Just to elaborate a bit: when you reverse a battery like suggested, depending on the circuit design it may do one or more of the following:
1. Do nothing because the circuit was designed with that in mind to protect itself and you (the device likely won't work)
2. Damage the circuit components...
This looks like the same issue that some cars have?
We own a BMW X3 and the passenger and drivers side interior handles do something very similar over time (heat seems to make it worse overtime) - the only workable solution is to replace or cover the material and anything else...
I've got several versions of those from Engineer (the company who makes them for Vamplier?) in a few sizes. They've worked exceptionally well for me when I've needed them.
Additional plug: I've bought a few different things from Engineer now (smaller pliers for electronics work, a solder...
Engineer Screw Pliers (aka Vampliers in the US I believe). I have a bunch of different styles from Engineer, including some of their 'electronics' versions and they've all been very useful.
A few new things from the past couple of weeks.
First, decided to get a proper set of torque wrenches:
Next, my girlfriend got me this new drill/driver set to replace my current one:
Finally, decided I really wanted a set of the Vessel drivers with the composite wood handle. This was...
Have you thought of looking at rugged tablets? They can get pretty expensive compared to their actual hardware specs but they're built to take a beating and there are some waterproof/resistant ones out there if that is also a concern.
This one is on the low end of the spectrum but should...
I'll admit that I don't know what that means... ^_^;
(edit) A bit of googling helped me out there - makes sense; maybe when I make another one I'll give that a try.
Yeah, I'm taking a chance on the leveling legs (my garage floor is terrible; old asphalt that is extremely pitted and uneven). In case you're curious, these are them:

Building my first workbench using the Simpson strong tie set. I ended up taking their plans into sketch up and modifying them a little bit.
Height change to around for leveling legs.
Added center cross beams for shelf and worktop.
Modified lower shelf to 3/4" ply
Modified worktop to 1/2" ply...
I bought this one not long ago

So far it as served me well. I've rebuilt my front porch, rebuilt my front steps, and replaced a bunch...
