    Tools from the old world

You're not missing anything, we do want them. I'm a long time Facom user, 20+ years so alll my spanners, sockets, ratchets, pliers, screwdrivers etc are Facom and the reduction in ratchet range to my view is very odd. It looks like the 72tooth ratchet mechanisms are now being used in the Mac...

    Found this on Craigslist

Its slogging at least it is here. Old word that pretty much means to hit someone, something or work hard ie a hard slog. Thinking about it Flogging could also fit.

    Repairing Facom J.171/174 Ratchets

Afternoon chaps Has anyone managed to strip down or know how to strip down Facom J.171/174 lock on ratchets? I have 2 J.174's that don't lock and one J.171 that won't release. Facom haven't ever done repair kits for these (although the mechanism is removable via circlip) that I can find and...

Anyone started their own tool truck round?

In my experience in the Motorcycle trade (which I've now left) the independants do pretty well as they aren't tied in to anyone. Bergen and US Pro always sold well but a couple of indies also sold Facom as its pretty cheap over here. The MAC trucks sell it now but they tend to sell for full...

    Help ID'ing these tools

Suspension bushing/bearing drivers. Common these days for rebuilding motorcycle shocks.

    UK Tool van owners

Had a look at tools vans as well and it seems to me that the costs are way too high. Facom which is sold from the MAC van is easy to get considerably cheaper from elsewhere. I am in Central London and I buy my Facom from a place in Bolton that sells Facom at about 30-40% off the price of the...

    Facom ratcheting screwdriver ACL.2A

Not seen the ACL.2a in person yet, most places stock the ACL.1a which is as good if not better than the other Pro makes out there but a lot cheaper. Look around and you can find it for as little as £20.

Broken chuck in drill press shank stuck

The drift is just that, a triangular bit of steel. Easy enough to make from a piece of 1/4 or so flat plat or whatever you can find.

A used set of Facom Imperial offset spanners.

Broken chuck in drill press shank stuck

Pretty much yes. I think all of the drill presses I've used have a cut out for this.

Broken chuck in drill press shank stuck

Wind it down and see if there is a cut out for putting a drift in to remove the chuck end?

    Silverline Tools

In general I agree with the above and I have told someone who rates them that if they ever touch one of my vehicles with a Silverline spanner I will stab them with it but some of their generic stuff is ok. At the moment my truck is suspended securely in the air on a set of Silverline 6 ton...

    Dewalt DCA1820 converters

Morning chaps I'm trying to get hold of a Dewalt DCA1820 adapter/converter and I am seeing two different types. The first type is the one on this page... http://toolguyd.com/dewalt-20v-max-18v-battery-adapter/ which seems to be from a Dewalt press release and the second type is the one...
