    Mike's new 36x52

Hey thanks! I'm trying to get the time to get this updated to current but I can't seem find enough time.:dunno: Anyway here is some more. After we finished up with the concrete it was time to get the building enclosed. This is the part where all my guys went back to paying jobs and I was...

    Mike's new 36x52

We brought in about 30 yards of sand for fill and we also brought in enough to fill where we scraped the topsoil off. I think it ended up around 70 yards of fill sand. The site was high in the back and right corner about 2'. We pulled that all out and used it as fill in another low area of...

We started the concrete next. I'm planning a lift on the left side so the floor was reinforced with rebar/remesh and poured 5" thick with deeper areas for the post mounts. Them we formed up and addition to connect the barn to the driveway. My son plays hockey and he's super excited to see all...

I probably didn't get enough photos through construction but I'll try to get more detail as I go with the finish work. I guess it's hard to hold the camera and a hammer at the same time!

After nearly 8 years with no shop for my stuff, it's finally my turn! I've been lurking on GJ for far too long with no posts and feel I owe you all a debt of gratitude. Thank you all for the inspiration. Hopefully this will work for my introduction as well. So before we built our current...

Where did you get those latches for the cabinet doors? I have been looking for some just like that but can't find them.

    My NEW garage...build

Looking good! I bet you're getting excited now! Your builder is progressing quick. I'm getting ready to build this spring, send me a message with your builders info if you are happy with them. (and they are in the Lansing area of course)

    My NEW garage...build

I'm about to draw up some plans for a new building about the same size as yours. I too am interested in any thoughts on insulation. Especially for a pole structure. My local lumberyard says they have a new 8' wide roll fiberglass just for this application.

    The Skunkworks Build begins

Congrats, your shop is looking fantastic! I thought you said it snowed? Guess we get more up North, we wouldn't call that snow.

    Painting OSB

I love the Kilz primer but, I'd use the exterior latex (kilz2) instead. It works the same but it's a bit thicker, stinks less, dries quicker and cleans up easier. Plus with a shop the moisture is less of a problem with the exterior kilz. I use it outdoor version for signs all the time. It...

    Cashflow! (for small businesses)

Franz, You're cracking me up. Very insightful though. I own a small sign company in Michigan (1 state recessionland) Most of your points are very close to my personal experiences. I landed a fantastic gig for about three months (unheard of with signs) My wife is a CPA and 'handles' my...

The "Bunker" garage is almost complete!

I really like how you built the garage (first picture) so that the mountain in the back would form the peak of the roof....you've planned everything! Great space! Nice work!

Shallow roof pitch 1/12. What would you use?

I don't know what I'm doing wrong so the pics won't enlarge. I'll email them to you. Mike

This front view has a more shallow pitch so you can see over it.
