After nearly 8 years with no shop for my stuff, it's finally my turn! I've been lurking on GJ for far too long with no posts and feel I owe you all a debt of gratitude. Thank you all for the inspiration. Hopefully this will work for my introduction as well.
So before we built our current house 8 years ago I had, at our old house, two buildings. A pole barn that measured 32x38 and a three car shop that I had completely finished and kept heated. I had 9 cars and trucks that I kept in there and have had to sell all but 2 of them.
I've missed it greatly and have been trying to plan my new one since. So here's the plan: a 36x52 pole building 14'6" to the eaves. Eave wall entries of a 9x10 insulated OH door and a 12x12 non insulated OH door and a 36/80 service door and will eventually be divided so that the left half will be a heated shop for my cars and whatever and the right half will be for storage. That brings us up to about July of this past year. I drew up a site plan that puts the building just off our turn around where we used to park our camper. Next, I pulled the trigger and ordered a modified package pole barn. Permits were granted and I was very excited and my wife was nervous. I own a small construction company so my guys would do much of the heavy lifting and I would do the all of the finish work and manage it all. The package was delivered about 3 weeks later and we got to work. As it turns out I did more of the work than I planned but my guys were a fantastic help.
We excavated and augered holes on day 1. View media item 46845

Day 2 we set all the poles and began installing the girts and started on the headers.

Day 3 we set all the trusses and stabilized everything. Days 4-6 we decked the roof and got it all shingled in.

I'll try to keep this up to date once I reach today's status in posts.
