    Switch to outlet and switch

I agree. If there are two sets of romex coming into the box and the whites are pigtailed together then yes you have the proper amount of wires. I would add a short white wire as a pigtail to the grounded side of the receptacle and connect it with the existing white wires and then you need to...

Installing new meter requires change in main breaker panel?

Sounds like to me that if you have a disconnect next to the meter the breaker box at your house would be considered a subpanel and would require four wires run to it. Two ungrounded conductors, one grounded conductor and one grounding conductor. The panel at your house would have to have the...

    garage outlet

Yes, you are correct, it is hard to say. Maybe they used a metal box, but I hope if it is plastic they would have taken the time to ground any and all receptacles. I am not sure if all of our advice has helped or co-member?

    garage outlet

Yes I know that a GFCI does not need a grounding conductor attached to it to make it function properly and that you can install a GFCI in place of a two wire receptacle but whoever wired the house or garage should have done the work in a "workman like manner".

It is sort of odd that who ever wired the outlet did not connect the grounding wire to the GFCI.

You may be right about the bundle of wires and there orientation. He needs to figure out which wires are the line side from the breaker box. I have seen it done several ways. The bundle of wires may not both be from the breaker box. Example one set of wires from breaker box then the other...

I live in Texas also, howdy. Is the picture you posted accurate? I noticed that you have the line side on the right side of the receptacle . On a GFCI the line side should be on top and any donwstream outlet wires would be on the bottom. Your line side black wire on the right top and the...

Calling MRB: Weird Current on Ground

I am new to this forumn. I was reading your post about voltage. You said you had 118volts phase to ground and 118volts phase to ground. The voltage seems a little low but when you measured it what were the amps on each phase. Maybe you were pulling a large amount of amps this is why the...

    Blue Flame fireplace valve leaking

I was able to seperate the vavle without tearing into the wall. It is a wedge type brass valve and the propane place says they may still be able to replace some of the parts. Believe it or nor they said that usually the valves are filled with fireproof grease and the grease gets between the...
