    Day Brite Lighting, advice needed

Just remember when dealing with flourescent lights it's more about the bulb than the fixture. I just upgraded my bulbs and the difference is night and day (pun intended). I used these http://www.1000bulbs.com/product.php?product=28152 and they are great. Their service was good and you will be...

    Painting/sealing interior/exterior cinder block

I just finished this on the back wall of my garage. It is built into a hill so that is the only wall that required block. I used Dryloc and it recommends two coats. The first should be applied with a stiff brush so you can work it into the little cracks and pors. You can use a roller for the...

Has anyone put A/C in their garage?

OK, picture it this way. When you have the A/C in your car on normal it cools the car down pretty well. Now you turn the A/C to max or hit your recirculation button and you could hang meat in there. Now when your house system is just blowing air into the garage with no return the A/C is on...

Has anyone put A/C in their garage?

The other thing to remember is you won't achieve the desired results without a return air duct. (Another reason you may not want to connect to your house system) If you don't pull the hot humid air out of the garage and run it through the evaporator coil you'll just be pushing cool air on top of...

    Lift questions

Footings are not necessary. The spec for most 2 post lifts is a minimum of 4 inches of reinforced 3500PSI concrete. I believe most guys around here recommend a little thicker slab just to play it safe (5-6 inches). Just make sure you give the concrete guys your spec when collecting bids. Good...

    Workshop heating?

I bought mine locally at Combustion research in Rochester Hills, MI. They were very helpful in determining the correct size/configuration for my set-up. The guy that helped me out was Daryl. I have been very happy with the unit so far. It has been 30 - 40 degrees out lately and the heater runs...

    Colored Concrete, Anyone Done-it ??

I don't have any at the moment and my cars are parked on it while I'm drywalling and painting the shop. I collected 5 bids and ended up going with a company called RML. They were not the cheapest but I just felt more comfortible with them than any of the others. I have no concerns recomending...

    Colored Concrete, Anyone Done-it ??

Mine is colored and stamped so I can't coment on just colored. I can say that if you go with the color use a good quality sealer as the sun will bleach out the color over time. Rich

    Workshop heating?

+ 1 on that. It's nice when the cars you're working on are as warm as the air around them. Rich

    Electrical Q with diagram

Just to clarify, we are talking about the junction box here not the service panel. Yes, I believe this is acceptable but I am not an electrician by trade. I'm sure Charles will weigh in on this at some point and he knows code requirements much better than I.

    Electrical Q with diagram

Make sure the cover on your junction box is accessable (not covered by any finish material). This is required by code.
