The short answer to your question is 6.5 lbs which will produce a working stress of about 8,000 psi. This is what I typically design 6063-T5 to. 6061-T6 will allow you to go up to around 15,000 psi working stress. This assumes the load is applied perpendicular to the tube. However, the...
I'm in the process of filling my expansion joints with Sikaflex. I taped the edges with 2" tape prior. I've used a putty knife to get the Sikaflex flush. Im curious as to how long I should wait before pulling up the tape?
Thanks....
Joe G, this is the stuff I am using. It is available in 10oz and 29oz tubes and gray or sandstone color. There might be other colors but those two are all I have seen.

I wanted to finally close the loop on a project that Platonic Solid and others helped me with. I am building a 100' x 40' x 12' eave height metal building. It is insulated with R38 in the ceiling and R25 in the walls. A thick vapor barrier that is white in color then covers the insulation on...
Thanks everyone for your replies. It sounds like I should just tape over the chips but not press down on the tape in the chipped areas. This way the sikaflex can fill the saw cuts and will expand out into the chipped areas but under the tape. Is this correct??
Thanks again....
I want to start out by saying I have been a lurker on this site for some time and have learned a great deal from others experiences. An absolute treasure trove of information.
I am in the process of building a 4000 sq. ft. metal building. The building has been erected and just a few days ago...
PS... I just noticed something and I think I know the answer but want to make sure. Regarding the link you provided for the software with the properties of the 18W Versa T8 bulb already loaded, it shows 5347 lumens per lamp and it only has 1 lamp in the quantity. The data on the 18W bulb shows...
Does anyone happen to know what light should be chosen in the Visual Interior Tool software that would best align with the Greenlight depot 18W VersaT8 LED tube that is being recommended?
Fisherguy,
Do you have a link regarding what your shop looks like with the 2nd option lights?
I found some linear high bay lights in the Visual Interior Tool and adjusted them to the specs of the 1st option. It produced a 4 x 8 grid (10' x 12.5') to produce 99fc at 30".
OK....thanks. I wasn't sure if my mounting height was high enough for the high bay lights. I thought I read they needed to be at least 14' high and I only have one purlin that is at that height. I was thinking that I would need four rows of lights which would have them mounted on the purlins...
Platonic Solid,
I have been through this thread several times trying to find a layout that would represent my building. Mine will be a metal building that is 100' x 40' with 12' eaves. The roof has a 2/12 pitch. I found a layout you did for ronzmtrwrx that was for a 50' x 60' x 12' which...
Baja,
It doesn't look level because it isn't. The first 25' will be a carport and it has a 1/2" per foot slope upward to where the building will be. As for the crack......that is a garden hose.
