Cheap Telescopic extraction arm for welding fumes

thanks for all the advice. I suppose it doesn't really have to extend, and it'll be much simpler to just build a swinging one.

Cheap Telescopic extraction arm for welding fumes

I'm trying to come up with a ventilation plan for my 1 car garage. I'm learning how to weld (recently bought a stick welder), and I was thinking about putting a 4" bathroom exhaust fan in the wall (and maybe cracking open the garage door for some intake). It's a heated garage, so it'll be...

2 post lift arm restraints not engaging

I recently installed a 2 post Bendpak Grand Prix lift, and the arm restraints don't always engage correctly. When they don't engage, I need to lower the car back down enough so that I can slightly push each arm (that didn't engage) in one direction, and then it locks. Here's a video of someone...

    Bendpak Arm Restraint Gears Question

Actually I think these will engage when the arms leave the floor -- I'll wait until the electrician connects the lift next week and will test it then.

2 Post Lift Positioning for 50/50 Weight Distribution BMW

Thanks everyone for the replies, even the haters:lol_hitti I was under the impression that its best to try to distribute the weight equally on the lift -- thats why I thought asymmetric lifts were usually good for most passenger cars (as they usually have more weight in the front), while...

2 Post Lift Positioning for 50/50 Weight Distribution BMW

I just had the realization that my 2004 BMW 330xi has a 50/50 weight ratio. I am planning on buying a 2 post lift later this year (most likely a Bendpak GP7-LC) which can be used both asymmetrically and symmetrically. I feel like I've seen BMWs (with claimed 50/50 weight ratios) lifted...

New 2-post lift fits 9-foot ceilings. PHOTOS

Yep, I was just thinking this the other day. @JSK -- any plans to offer a 10.5 ft or 11 ft model in the coming years? It looks like the 9'10" model is just a few inches short of me being able to stand upright under my car (I'm 5'11"). I guess one potential work around would be riser pads, but...

    2-post lift in small garage

haha, got it! I'll keep that in mind. The Bendpak grand prix is asymmetric so I might be able to position it forward enough that the post would be in front of the front door (allowing both front and rear door to open). I'll figure something out. House won't be ready until 2019 so I have plenty...

    2-post lift in small garage

So we just got the first draft site plan from the architect. Our house will be the one on the right side (with the garage all the way on the right side). I don't have the exact measurements yet on the garage, but I did some measuring / scaling from the site plan drawing, and it looks like it...

    2-post lift in small garage

Thanks for the response. Yeah, I think the Grand Prix looks like a pretty nice option for small garages.

JSK - Would it be alright to position one of these columns up against a wall? Thanks

    2-post lift in small garage

Thanks for sharing, good to know. I have 2 years before I buy one so these will hopefully be out by then.

    2-post lift in small garage

Is it a bad idea to put one post right against the wall? I feel like that would still provide enough room to take the wheels off, etc...

    2-post lift in small garage

OH man, looks like I found a big disadvantage to the Mohawk A7. Price is $6-7k!!?? It seems like Mohawk is American made while Bendpak is made in China but seems to still be very high quality.
