    Welding thin metal

I would not modify the trigger on a carry gun. Too many potential issues if you have to use it in self-defense. If it's a range toy, go for it, but definitely advise any future buyers that trigger has been modded.

Dented water main line on street side

@Codyboy what's your point? The damaged pipe is before that valve.

Even out of warranty, they may have some suggestions.

    Are Air Compressors still necessary?

30 gal is great for sprinkler blowouts, and I've painted with it. While it doesn't have the CFM to keep up with a die grinder for long, it's sufficient for less demanding CFM tools or even shorter burst runs of tools like a die grinder. I think that size is popular as consumer grade compressor...

    Quickjack stuck in up position...Rust?

I find it very hard to believe that rust on a pivot is holding this up while you stood on it. Have you contacted BendPak?

    Are Air Compressors still necessary?

If you live in a region with cold winters and need to blow out sprinkler lines, a compressor pays for itself vs hiring a sprinkler company to blow out the system every year.

What do I need to drill into this steel?

Exactly. To do this correctly with hand drill for many holes is a lot of work. Drill press, or in this application, mag drill, controls the speed and never screws it up, and gives you a lot of leverage so you can apply a lot of force without having to exert much force.

What do I need to drill into this steel?

Whenever I have to drill anything thicker than sheet steel, my preference is cobalt bits and drill press. Since it seems you have a lot of holes to drill and drill press isn't an option, I would absolutely get a mag drill, especially since you can get a cheap Vevor brand mag drill mentioned...

Polymeric sand to treat cracks in concrete patio?

Yeah, some of them - the ones with the most dense clusters of weeds.

how many sharpenings can you get out of a chainsaw chain?

For sure. I could see the material that using 4-1/2" cutoff disc was taking off, but for quickly sharpening an otherwise hopeless chain, this worked great. It would have been a waste of a file and my time to try to revive that chain by manually filing. I ordered a Dremel grinding stone of the...

Polymeric sand to treat cracks in concrete patio?

I've got some cracks in an old concrete patio, and of course I get weeds every year that I beat back with a string trimmer. I'm not ready to replace the entire patio with pavers, but wondering if using a power washer to clean out the cracks and brushing in polymeric sand and sprinkling some...

how many sharpenings can you get out of a chainsaw chain?

OP here. The consensus was this chain was too beat up to bother trying to file it back into serviceable shape, and I agreed, so I bought a new chain. But it occurred to me that the jack-of-all-trades tool, the beloved angle grinder, might be useful here, or would cut right through the links...

    Cord reel for 100ft 12/3

That's a good point, but I'm using a SJEOOW cord, which is very flexible. Absolutely love this cord, just hate having to coil up 100ft of it.

    Cord reel for 100ft 12/3

Started this thread a year ago, and bought the cheap reel that HD/Lowes sell with 150ft 16ga capacity. Been using it for a year, and while it does barely hold 100ft of 12/3, and is better than coiling by hand, it *****. Unless I'm reeling the cord very neatly, the last few yards of cord are...
