just a guess but i think china reads from right to left in there books so that could be why the sockets are packaged that way.

Look at birds in the wild or in zoos or aviaries. Perches or branches are more round. Used to have up to 12 chickens in a chicken house we used tree limbs in the 1 to 2" diameter size long enough to span the side width of the house. Just use the opposite side from the steps. Good luck

What are the wall blocks made of? If not cemented together take apart blocks and cut a slot or however wide section off block in the area of red dot and water should drain thru to grass area. Maybe a masonary brick chisel might work. Maybe just a different option
