I would prefer not to use the same epoxy because I want a different color (something dark like blue maybe). and yes, they are quite porous.

I am close to getting ready to put the epoxy on but thought of painting the part below the baseboard and above the floor (mainly for aesthetics). What is this portion called and can I paint it ? what paints can I use ? Thanks.

When you say 'for the spalled or pitted areas, you can use the epoxy alone' - do I have the first fix the pitted areas with epoxy before applying it to the whole floor or will applying the epoxy on the whole floor cover up the pitted/spalled ares. Thanks for the response.
