    Attic floor ac

Why not just make a box on part of the sloped ceiling to accommodate a minisplit? I don't recall any requirement for a vertical wall to be below the head. If you have the height you can make it its own straight wall section.

    Eastwood 135 Mig Welder $199

I've had my little 110v Hobart for a couple years now. Couldn't be happier with it.

    Ductless Mini-split efficiency/seer comparision quesiton

I bought mine from ecomfort.com since their prices include freight / lift gate service on almost all of the units. And yes, I agree on the fact that parts may be limited. That is why I purchased the lowest SEER rated unit. Don't want to gamble on being able to find parts when/if it fails in a...

hearing protection; unwanted advice for the younger set...

Started religiously using hearing protection at about 22. So glad I did too. House / garage / vehicles are littered with those harbor freight red earmuffs. Grinding, sawing, chainsawing, hammering, nail guns, log splitting, shooting, impact drivers... Anything that is loud, annoying, or...

    Ductless Mini-split efficiency/seer comparision quesiton

I've had my Gree 12k BTU 220v for over a year now. Works excellent - I have another on order for the bedroom currently. I went with 16 SEER, calculated electricity usage vs a 21... didn't pay. Would take something like 6-7 years to make up the cost difference and break even in my usage case. The...

Cleaning sound deadening residue - Crud Thug or similar?

Agreed, a good asphalt and tar remover will help. Might end up making a gooey mess if you use it on a thick part. I would probably scrap off as much as I could before using a chemical remover. Could try the dry ice / liquid nitrogen route to try and make it brittle and chip off, probably...

    LG Mini Splits

I bought and installed a 12kbtu Gree unit last year. Been working great, just ordered another for the bedroom. It was $760 shipped. They have gone up a little since last year, but still cheap. For the cost of a single "name brand" unit I can get two or more of these. I figure if it lasts 3 or 4...

    DIY Car Ramp

If these wooden ramps scare you guys, take a trip to the local pet store and look at the fish tank stands. Most of them are press board ****. I have a 75 gallon tank stand that is all press board junk. Loaded 75 gallon tank with lights / hood / sand / water will easily approach 1000 lbs. The...

    The Hobart Handler 140

Love mine. I've had one for just over 2 years now. First welding I ever did with it (and first time I have ever picked up a welding torch) was a 2" hitch adapter for my ATV. I didn't like the single-bolt ball hitch, so I made a larger bracket with u-bolts and the factory point. Been working...

    Home Depot Clearance Thread 2016

Saw these 12v outdoor LED rope lights when I was down in TX recently. Haven't seen them back at home, they are probably due for a drop soon.

First home, first garage, first build.

They do sell under-deck gutters you could use and make that whole space rain-free. Usually called under-deck ceiling systems.
