    Nut & Bolt Storage

Re: Nut & Bolt Storage Side door to the garage is only about 12" from the back wall, so I had a sort of dead space behind it. Decided to use it for small pieces storage. 4 Akro Mils 30636's (sprayed safety blue to match my other cabinets), 72 30220's, 24 30230's, and 12 30224's. Left some...

    Maxjax Installs: Post Here

Thanks to everyone in this thread for the ideas about Maxjax installs, I have finally started using mine after finishing (more or less) a house and garage remodel. Since the garage was open to the studs, I took the liberty of running a 10' length of 2" ABS pipe with large radius 90o bends on...

    engine stand

I ended up buying a Sunex 8300GA geared stand about 2 years ago in order to be able to rotate a bunch of very top-heavy 32V Porsche 928 motors. Read too many scary stories about stands almost tipping over when the engine's 90o on its side. Works like a champ.

Dumb newb ??'s RE: changing drill press chuck

Followup: So the stock arbor for a 91214 is removable, I used a #2 drill drift and it popped out easily. Getting the chuck off the arbor was a bear- had to use a gear puller. I pressed the Rohm chuck on the arbor with a bigger puller and then tapped the arbor back into place. RESULT: Huge...

Dumb newb ??'s RE: changing drill press chuck

Thanks for all the great info (and the kind offer, Bob), I appreciate it. For now I will pull the chuck and check the taper. I have a dial gauge and can measure the runout on the spindle, arbor and chuck to see why the chuck is wobbly. Will report back when I get a chance to play with it.

Dumb newb ??'s RE: changing drill press chuck

I am tempted by this Rohm chuck (http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PMAKA=SK240-3043&PMPANO=0474210&PMKANO=205&PMKBNO=1880&PMPAGE=51&PARTPG=INLMPI) but the specs say J33 mount. In Enco's dropdown menu for chuck mounts they do differentiate between J33 and 33JT. [Newb mode]Is there a difference...

Dumb newb ??'s RE: changing drill press chuck

Thanks for the input! No screw up in the base of the chuck. Just a little dimple in the middle which I guess would be the center of the arbor when it was mfd.

Dumb newb ??'s RE: changing drill press chuck

Apologies in advance for a total novice question. About a year ago I bought a craftsman 12" drill press, model 21914 (AKA 315.214140). It was a floor model (perhaps a return- missing the chuck key, safety button, and several other things) but it was $129 and I got all the missing parts free...

    Gas can Venting

I can guarantee that I have spilled more gasoline on the floor from California's stupid gas cans that would ever have been lost from my father's old 1960's style metal jerry cans. I think I'll have him add them to my side of the will....
