    Question on converting/adaptor a 240v plug for 110v for 4 post lift

I think a big part of the issue is the length of the wire (and therefor the voltage drop) from the breaker panel, through the receptacle and plug to the motor windings. Most houses built between the 1950s and 1990s are wired for 15A. (I'll bet it is still true today except for where code...

    Question on converting/adaptor a 240v plug for 110v for 4 post lift

55 years ago I worked at Sears selling paint and compressors. Many 1 hp compressors came back because they would trip a 15A breaker/fuse !

    The Local Hardware Store

When I vacation "up north", the town has a "Gil-Roy's Got it" hardware store. Not big, but they do have it ! Chain saws, hunting and fishing gear, kitchen gadgets, plumbing, electrical ... It is fun just wandering through it !

    Question on converting/adaptor a 240v plug for 110v for 4 post lift

It is both LOGICAL and REASONABLE to ASSUME that a TYPICAL 15A receptacle is on a 15A circuit !

    Question on converting/adaptor a 240v plug for 110v for 4 post lift

To an NEC "code lawyer", you are correct ! In my lifetime, I have only seen ONE 5-20P. I have NEVER seen a 5-30P or 5-30R !

    Question on converting/adaptor a 240v plug for 110v for 4 post lift

So why did the manufacture put a "regular 3 prong plug" (NEMA 5-15P) on it ?????

    Question on converting/adaptor a 240v plug for 110v for 4 post lift

That is a really STUPID statement ! If that was true and the NEMA 5-15P that it came with was connected to a 15A breaker, that breaker would trip before 5 minutes !

    Question on converting/adaptor a 240v plug for 110v for 4 post lift

NO ! Technically it wants a a 120V- 15A circuit ! Will it work. YES ! Is it "code compliant" ? Probably not. You can overload/burn out the motor because that adapter comes with a 20A breaker !

What's the coolest looking floor you've seen?

Years ago, wood block floors were common in factories. Compacted sand and 4x4 or 6x6 blocks, grain up . They were cheap and durable. Water and oil passed straight into the sand. Easy to repair.

Can you get bulk discounts on tool purchases? I need to buy a gross of every tool so I can find my tools.

I have lost my 4lb HF Engineer's Hammer, multiple times (putting it down somewhere and not putting it away). Luckily I have always found it several days later ! It now has MULTIPLE yellow tape stripes on it !
