What kind of adapters and couplers do I need for car ac manifold gauges and vacuum pump use?

Prepare to be frustrated with the self sealing cans. I bought the HF can tap, and two other newer brass screw down taps and that $4 plastic adapter. After an hour and two trips to the auto parts store, I couldn't get anything to work. If hook em up to the yellow hose and try to purge and if...

    Heat stopped working

You can "jump" some of the wires together. I'm going to let the more experienced folks chime in about which ones, but I think connecting R to G should turn on the fan.

    Which pocket flashlight?

Yes. Go get some of those <$5 Sipik sk68s and/or clones. They are a great lil light for a number of reasons...even when using AA batteries.

Same here. We use a $100 a/c window unit in our bonus room some evenings. Works fine.

    water off roof collection

Not much. These above ground units will need to be drained in the winter. A positive benefit is that the raised containers won't need to be buried or require a pump. My suggestion of considering this sort of thing is just so you can get accustomed to using them (i.e.: crawl, walk, run).

    water off roof collection

If you didn't want to go full scale, you could always get some of these totes n start working out some of the kinks (this is not my setup) My gutter bypass thingy was a tad more involved than I expected & I almost lost my first barrel to freezing temps.

    leaf vac

What about those giant leaf bags sold on amazon? One of the comments that caught my eye (i don't own one). I have used this type of bag for many years and, while the bag does drag, it has never worn the bag to any appreciable level - even dragging the bag when it is very heavy and full of...

    Flashlight suggestions??

Yup. Not to mention you can often get an adapter (<$2) so the 18650 torch can run off 3-AAA batteries if/when you need it to. Or simply spend $8 and get 2 of the ones shown above so you'll always have a spare :)

installing shower in remote cabin w/o a water supply

You can buy pressure water tanks, water pumps, water heaters, etc. I've also heard of folks making their own pressure tanks from salvaged parts (kegs, barrels, water heaters, etc.) and tire pumps.

    Flashlight suggestions??

Trust me. Raid your car's ashtray and pull together $3.55 and go buy this flashlight. This little booger will impress you. Lots of the torch-head folks rave about their value. It's almost Christmas, so I'd recommend you buy a few as gifts...

Great Garage Ideas! Aesthetics or Functional!

OK, I'll bite Put an old fridge in the garage and stock it with beer. Take that old stereo and hang it from the ceiling. Put a fair amount of chicks in bikinis on the wall just so the women folk are a little uncomfortable staring at boobies. Lastly, make a pisser by sticking a funnel in a...
