I would get a can of Kroil, That is great penetrating oil. Can you cut the exposed bolth down closer to the nuts? If so do it this will allow to put a socket on it. I would also get some twist sockets, turbo sockets, tornado sockets, all the same just different names. The harder you turn the...

My first Welding project, a welding bench

Honestly I don't know if it is hot or cold rolled. The guy I got it from was useing it as a bench as well. It had some round tude legs that were cut off when I picked it up. There was a **** load of goobered weld under it. I went to work on it with my DeWalt 4" grinder. I quickly trashed a...

My first Welding project, a welding bench

I used a rose bud and heated the plate. Then I turned up the heat on my mig and just welded it to the frame. I don't know if that was the proper way of doing things, but it worked. It took a **** load of gas to heat the plate in the areas I wanted. Don't get me wrong, I didn't turn it cherry...

    Trailer RE- Build

I am not sure why it came off. I was doing about 45 MPH, hit a bunch of chuck holes, and man it scared the **** out of me. It was swaying all over by the chains. But ya the chains held just fine.

    Best tool chests?

I would go with Snap-On or Matco. If you are looking at older boxes Do they have drawer slides, or Roller Berrings? I know the KRL Snap-On bottom boxes top drawer will hold 500 Lbs. Like a few others have said, are you going to make a liveing out of this box? Or is this going to be a weekend...

My first Welding project, a welding bench

I put it on casters to move it around my shop. If I have a larg and heavy piece of work, I move it out to the center of my shop. Otherwise I have it up against the wall. Like right now I have a 550Lb wood burning stove on it. I picked the stove up and found it needed some work. In stead of...

    Trailer RE- Build

I bought a small 5X8 utility trailer some years ago, from a friend. It had plywood sides and deck. Shrotly after I bought it, I was pulling it empty, well long story short it came off the hitch. My natural reaction was hit the breaks. It slamed itno the back of my wifes Expedition. Lucky for me...

My first Welding project, a welding bench

No Offence taken bro. I was a Snap-On dealer for a while, I know exactly what you are saying. When I saw "Wilton" at Lowes I was surprised, then I saw the price, I thaught holly **** they mispriced it. So I snatched one up. After getting home I noticed made in China under Wilton specs. That was...

    Adding a drain

I have the same problem, I am going to saw cut the concrete in front of my over head door and put in a trench type drain. This will run the 10' span of my door. Then I am going to burry drain tile and run it to a 6' deep pit filled 3/4 of the way with Pea Gravle.

My first Welding project, a welding bench

I don't intend to use the anvil on the vise. I have several 4" cubed solid chunks of steel. I also have several 3 to 5" pieces of solid round bar stock. For curving. Yup once it gets to rolling, it moves just fine. I would love to have a better quality vise but as of now all I can afford is...

My first Welding project, a welding bench

I am a Diesel mechanic, so I figured if I ever needed a bench to put a Series 60 Detroit on, it would hold it....LOL. But ya I did kind of overbuild, but for the price, I couldn't beat it.
