    Problems with bit holders

I haven't used that exact type, but I'd guess that the spring is located in some kind of retaining groove. I'd be checking the the spring hasn't moved a bit out of the groove so that it's not expanding properly when the bit is inserted. I'd also try it with a bit of lube on the bit for a few...

It’s going to get better still.

Yeah, I didn't realize that this thread was so old when I replied. It looks like that company is concentrating on licensing their technology to EV manufacturers rather than producing normal cells (like 18650) for power tools...

It’s going to get better still.

I think that most people either didn't read the linked story or have completely misunderstood it. The story has nothing to do with making existing platforms obsolete, nor does it have anything to do with cross platform battery compatibility. It's just a story about a company claiming...

Old wood handle broken screwdrivers wtd with them?

That's something I enjoy doing when I'm bored, making new handles for broken stuff. :)

    Let's Share Non-Obvious Tool Tricks

Here's another useful tape measure tip, to find your favorite tool. 1. Measure the length of anything close at hand to the nearest cm (or to the nearest inch if you prefer). 2. Multiply this number of cm (or inches) by 9 to get a new number. 3. Add up all the digits of the number in step 2 to...

    Metal Cutting Circular Saw Blades

That's over 2500 m/min (8500 ft/min) cutting speed on a 7.25 inch disc. I think that's a lot more than most blades are rated for when cutting steel.

    First Ryobi Fail

You've kind of missed the most important bit of information. Is it dead or did it just cut out due to overload/overheat? So if you plug a freshly charged battery into it now, is it still dead or not?

    What are these?

I can't really see why you'd need a point like that for a dry wall fastener? They kind of look a bit like plumb bob heads to me - But that doesn't seem quite right either as you'd normally have radial symmetry on a plumb bob to keep it accurate.

    C Clamp information (repair?)

Well it's going to be about 2" shy of being able to clamp fully closed, so certainly not ideal. Yeah that's what I thought you had in mind initially. TBH I don't know, but I'd also be interested to know if it's possible.

Drill press chuck & taper removal

Yours is a lot neater than mine. I made my two very rough wedges out of scrap with just an angle grinder and file, but they still work ok. It's a lot better to use two thinner wedges than one fat one though. When you insert them from opposite sides, the tapers cancel out and they provide an...

Help Me With My Drill Press

LOL, that piece of twine isn't holding anything in place, except maybe the chuck key. I'm guessing that the chuck key is just hanging off the end of it.

    dog bone wrenches

Those things were absolutely ubiquitous when I was a kid. We rode old British style 3 speed bikes, and everything was hex nuts on them (nothing allen key or torx like modern bikes). Most really basic tool kits came with one of those wrenches (often in combination with patches and tire levers)...

18650 Battery powered mowers storage voltage for winter?

I'd store them at about 3.8 volts per cell (by that I mean the number of cells in series). Not sure how many cells in your 60V battery, but assuming that it's 15 in series (actual number of cells would be a multiple of 15 as there would be many in parallel) then I'd consider 15 * 3.8 = 57 volts...

    Fabricated Drill press? Kit, maybe?

Also worth considering that there could be torque limitations at low speed on a direct drive unit like that (in comparison with something that gears down the motor to achieve low speed operation). A good VFD can give full load torque at low speed, but that still results in power that falls in...
