Yes they will, but they won't have the same power output as if you used an Octane battery. The differences are not substantial enough to worry about it for normal use. Regular Hyper Lithium batteries work great.

FYI, check the Advanced Auto Parts website for your local store. I got the MM and SAE Powerbuilt Zeon hex bit sets for around $3.45 a piece on clearance. YMMV

Just an update for anyone in the same boat as me: I previously used 6ah HO and 8Ah HO M18 batteries in the M18 chainsaw and they did great. The M18 12Ah Forge blows them out of the water. The power difference is insane. We'll worth every penny I'd you are running the M18 16" chainsaw.
