    Opener receptacle placement

I owe you a beer. I already ordered my wall mount opener. It solved a bunch of other problems. Cheers!

    Opener receptacle placement

I hadn't seriously considered that (mostly just due to unfamiliarity), but I think I may go that route...

    Opener receptacle placement

You're talking breaker not receptacle, right? Since it's up high?

    Opener receptacle placement

Yes the opener will be centered. This is great info, I never would have thought to place off center, thanks.

    Opener receptacle placement

Yeah, I think 2’ is what I’ll go with.

    Opener receptacle placement

Just starting the electrical rough-in. I will use a standard trolley opener on a 16x9' door. Is there a standard for where to place the box for the opener receptacle? I was thinking of adding 3' to the end of the door when up?

    electrical sanity check

    Good to know. So assuming I did go with 2/0 AL, I would need 4 conductors: 2 x 2/0, 1 x 1/0 and 1 x 2AWG, correct? That will pull through 2" PVC?

    electrical sanity check

For that length (even for 100A service), my calculations work out to needing 2/0 Aluminum. I've read that can be tough to pull and then a bear to bend into the main panel. Not the case?

    electrical sanity check

OK, I misread that part of the code. I will have to rent a trencher either way. Is there any downside to going down 24". Is the caution tape mandatory?

    electrical sanity check

I'm trying to future proof, expecting within the next 10 years to have 2 electric vehicles. Additionally, I can get a screaming deal on 1/0 CU THWN ($1.46/ft).

    electrical sanity check

I've been poring over posts and research and I think I've got all my bases covered for installing the electrical run from my main panel to my new detached garage. I wanted to post my plans and get a sanity check from the group before I purchased anything. Plan thus far: 125A breaker in my 200A...

    "The Hangar"

Well, the exterior of my garage is (mostly) finished, so I thought I would introduce it. When my German bother-in-law saw it, he asked if it was a garage or an airplane hangar. Since I am a pilot, I thought that was the perfect name! The Hangar is a 24'x36' tandem orientation garage...

    Greetings from NOVA

Hi everyone, My name is Eric and I live in Alexandria, VA (Mount Vernon area for those familiar). We bought our garage-less house in 2015. I'm getting ready to retire form the military in the next 2-3 years and we plan to stay in NOVA so I'm finally close to building my dream garage. I'm a...
