I plan to put insulation(rockwool) to insulate the roof. It will cover half of the light socket base and slightly above the bulb. See red light in last picture.

i guess you are completely right. It's supposed to be lower on the front but somehow it's raised. I am not sure why it's raised and how can i fixed it. Do i need to remove the whole thing and add asphalt again?
