    My Weird 3/4” Wrench Compulsion

Yeah, I’ve passed up a few 19s that would’ve doubled the above. If it’s cheap enough though... I normally do pick the 1/2x9/16 but those go right to my dad. He literally keeps them everywhere.

    My Weird 3/4” Wrench Compulsion

Not sure why, but a few years ago I started having a hard time leaving 3/4” combo wrenches in the pawn shop piles. If it’s branded and I don’t already have one exactly like it I buy it. Here’s the rail I keep em on. It’s interesting seeing the commonalities in some, like the older Husky...

11mm the most useless socket in the world?

I use 9 fairly often in textile machinery of Italian and german origin. I have specifically bought about 5 9s in different styles trying to find just the right one. Luckily I do more than half of my buying at a pawn shop that I basically pay flat rate of $0.50/pc from the loose tool bin. Makes...

What did you do "IN" your garage today?

The Gimmick Tool addiction thread! :)

My local hardware store sells that hammer. I have a tendency to go shopping at the hardware store when I’m sick. Almost bought that last time I had the flu because of how near it was. Common sense beat the fever impulse after I realized I could get a ratcheting flex Channellock 14mm wrench for...

    Older Craftsman Impact Specs?

That’s the one! Works well, seems to have a good amount more power than my old one for sure. Was just curious on the actual torque number because I’m way too concerned with useless information.

How did you choose your "battery platform"?

Initially I stuck with 18v porter cable because I got a decent deal as Lowe’s was closing them out. The fact that the nicad batteries can be had cheap on eBay is nice, and I can always jump over to their 18v lithium for the price of the battery and charger. I’ve got the drill, 1/4 Impact...

The Gimmick Tool addiction thread! :)

My robogrips finally gave up the ghost last year. Took back to sears and they let me pick out what I wanted to replace them sinc they no longer exist. I still have a couple equivalent by kobalt. They’re hit and miss with usability.

    Older Craftsman Impact Specs?

Picked up a Craftsman 1/2” Impact over the weekend. Was cheap enough and figured it’d be an inexpensive upgrade over my 20 year old Chinese no name. It’s an 875.199940, made in Japan. Anybody know much about torque specs, age, overall quality, etc? I tried searching the web but did not find much...

Dont shoot me but I'm just not impressed with William's USA crewdrivers

I’ve got the Williams ratcheting T handle and love it. It splits usage with my snappy Dale Earnhardt driver that I scored for $1.50 at a yarn sale. Honestly my favorite handle material and texture. Williams USA and older snappy hard handles have both done right by me. I got a non comfort grip...

Need new screwdrivers, Wera or Wiha?

I’d go Wera. The handles just fit my hand better

    Craftsman Bit Socket set

I bought 2 of those sets last year. Similar set anyway. I love it. Could be a bit more complete on the metric hex sockets but a good deal for the money

    Recommend me a Multimeter

I’ve got a fluke 375 at work. Home is a Klein, can’t remember model number but it came with a thermocouple. It’s not true RMS like fluke, but for basics it’s good and is built like a rock.

    HF or Craftsman tool chest?

I’ve got a top, middle, bottom craftsman box set that I got when I was about 20, say 2001-2003. I’ve used the piss out of it and it’s still in great shape. I used the bottom as my roll around at work for a long time and never had any isssues. About 2 years ago I found an Evolv 2 chest set for...

    GearWrench Ratchet/Sockets

Honestly for a budget starter set, I’d look at Duralast at autozone. Ratchets are Snappy clones, and owning both, the duralast stuff still compares nicely especially price wise vs GW. Current duralast ratchets are 90 tooth. Might not be 120, but for the money I’d be ok with the fewer teeth.
