I think the only difference for your purposes is in the pawl and the lever. The two together are interchangeable as a unit but the lever for one won't fit the pawl for the other. So the kit should work if it has both a lever and a pawl.

I had the same thing happen with a 43785 and the ball was a 1/8", a standard hardware store item. Was 17 cents. They're over in the drawers with the nuts and bolts...

Maybe you could have an agreement for the customer to sign that would eliminate all your responsibility and put the responsibility on the customer (or his insurance). That would be the way to go unless you live in an anti-business area with laws that force you into the opposite situation.

I used Spraymax 2k clear for the last coats on a motorcycle tank. It has turned out to be totally gas resistant, which was why I was using it and what I was hoping for. It will cut and buff to a real high shine. It is nasty stuff with serious health warnings though. I sprayed it outside...

Are you ever worried about carb gaskets "drying out" like the OP? I've left motorcycle carbs drained for months with no issues. Kinda seems like not a real concern to me...

Did you ever take a car door apart and replace the window regulator and then put it all back together nice and pretty...and then remember you left the regulator and motor only finger tight? Not as bad as doing that with lug nuts I guess...
