    Red Kennedy box

Stopped at an estate sale today and found this beautiful Kennedy tool box from the red paint era. I wasn’t very interested in the tools, just the box.The guy said 40 dollars and you can do what you want with the tools.I paid him the money and after getting it home and emptying it I am glad I got...

Metal Cabinets vintage or homemade and no name toolboxes. got any to show please do

Here is an interesting Craftsman box I acquired a few months ago. It caused quite a bit of interest when I first posted it trying to get some information on it. So far it eludes identification but it's certainly a craftsman, the logo is a bit rough but it's still legible.

    USMC clicking hatchet

Picked this up the other day, after brushing the lettering it read USMC,which in this case stands for United Shoe Machinery Corporation. It’s a trimming tool used to cut pieces of leather trim in shoe making production. Some say it makes a good wood working tool,I intend to find out.

Odd hoe/adze thing: Anybody have any guesses what it is?

My Dad ran a large landscaping company that sometimes did mass planting and they used the tool I pictured. It could be that they didn't want to invest in hoedads and chose to use the more commonly available grub hoe, although grub hoe always meant a two bladed affair but no matter. I'm curious on...

Odd hoe/adze thing: Anybody have any guesses what it is?

I picked this one up at the transfer station. If you worked for timber companies, often after cutting a lot for lumber you would then have a crew come in and plant seedlings. This would be a useful tool to break open a spot to put in the new seedlings. Useful for a lot of garden property management.

    New machinist acquisitions.

I’m a hobby machinist and I like acquiring older tooling for my garage shop. These two chucks,a Cushman 3 jaw and a South Bend/Skinner 4 jaw independent came home with me the other day. They will be added to the tooling for my South Bend heavy ten. Both are in good working order although I have...

    Scrap pile rescues

Picked up two Rockwell heavy duty fastener driver drills, two Rockwell 100m routers and a Black and Decker 454 3 inch belt sander. All were dropped off at the scrap metal bin at the transfer station. The all work.

    Machinists level.

I spent 5 years operating out of the machine shop when I was in the USCG,I find myself wondering how the rolling and pitching, the flexing of the hull effected the machines on board. Sometimes the ship would hit the seas just right and it would reverberate like a spring, you could feel it for...

    Machinists level.

This Pratt and Whitney cast iron machinist level was added to my garage inventory today. It came from an estate sale. I need a good level to check my lathe and milling machine and this will fit the bill.

    Surface plate

The guy I bought it from has a shop that looks more like a meticulously maintained machinist museum. I’ve bought things from him before and have every reason to believe it’s flat as he said it was.I haven’t indicated it yet but I will soon enough.

    Surface plate

Acquired a cast iron surface plate,12x12 inch recently scraped and flaked. I like the capacity to set a magnet indicator base on the surface plate when using it.
