thanks turbo, but the hinges i require must not be seen on the surface of the table top... they need to go down the inside edge and wrap under the bottom a little i would like to screw the hinges from underneath. i just don't know what they are called.

workbench project continued... rather than redo the 2x4s and attach them to the wall studs, i've added metal brackets to the bottom since i intend to do only light work on this bench. the greatest weight will come from 4 suspended drawers on the appropriate sliders... found here...

i think i'll redo the 2x4's and thru bolt them into the joist. piece of mind. the mdf sounds good and a white finish. thanks lone starky
