VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I’ll grab it for another look next time we visit, but I looked pretty close and didn’t see anything. Thanks for the help! EDIT: Wow, you have a good eye! I just looked at the original image from my phone and you are correct. I do indeed see a date stamp there that I missed with my naked eye and...

VISE REPAIR 101 all vise repairs, lubricants, sources for parts and the tricks to fix

I was talking with my father-in-law earlier today about the Wilton vise I'm fixing up and I found this one in the attached pictures in his garage. No date stamped, so I'm guessing this is pre-1945 based on what I've read.

    Broken Wilton Vise Advice

Don't know a welder but there is a Community College in town, I could ask there. Also a few welding shops, not sure what they would charge. I'll bring it by to see.

I'm trying to decide between having the base welded, trying to find one that isn't broken, and just bolting it down without the swivel. Could anyone provide insight into what...

    Wilton Vise Advice

Really, I thought they had more value than that? Or at least, I doubt I could buy a comparable vise for the same price. I'm mostly looking for something that will be useful. I guess another way to look at it is to ask if there is a better vise I could get for the money that I would have into...

    Wilton Vise Advice

I've been needing a vise for my shop for awhile now and I have a chance to pick up this Wilton vice for about $50 bucks. The swivel base has a crack as you can see in one of the pictures. I'm wondering if this is a good price and if I can easily replace or find somebody to weld the base...
