My basement garage has block walls which were painted white when I moved in. I repainted the bottom half of the walls to my liking. It was impossible to get tape to stick to the gloss white paint on the walls so we ended up outlining the stripes in Sharpie marker and then very precisely hand...
There is a blind nut on the top side of the wood. I was worried it wouldn't hold enough weight and I even went hunting for a larger diameter blind nut, but my 200lb grandfather decided to hang from it with all the tires up there and it didn't even budge.
It's approx 21' wide X 26' deep in the main parking section of the garage. There is an additional 100 square foot or so off to the side where the washer/dryer is. It is just under 700 square feet total. I wish it was closer to 800 square feet so I would have a little extra storage for my engine...
I just bought my first house exactly a month ago today. Getting the basement garage functional has been my first priority. So far I've got the slatwall up and the paint started. My next big project will be the lighting.
Still plenty of room with all 3 cars in the garage.
I can't quite call this "genius" as it is simply a modified design from another member here. I am extremely happy with the way it turned out and I can't wait to finally move the race car and all the tools over to the new house this weekend.
Simple tire rack. Approx $85 in parts.
I'm just getting started on my basement garage. We've been putting up slatwall the last few days and I'm hoping to get started on painting soon, but the weather here has been a little too cold for painting lately.
Here it is unpainted as it is right now and then a hastily edited version...
Here are the pictures so far. These were the 3 full 4X8 sheets. We will be doing the partial pieces this weekend. Eventually I'm going to trim the top and bottom of the panels to make it look a little nicer, but all I need right now is "functional". That corner of the room is going to be where...
We started on the slatwall install this afternoon, but had to cut it short when I got called into work unexpectedly. Hopefully we can finish the bulk of it tomorrow and I'll get some pictures up. So far it is going smoothly using 3/4" firing strips and 1/4" Tapcons.
Spray some silicone or WD-40 on the hangers where they are on the posts. Take a medium size flathead screwdriver and work it into the hole on the hanger that the post is going through. That will help get the hole started over the little nub on the end of the post. Just keep working with the...
I'll be hanging several sheets of slatwall in a few weeks to a cinder block wall and I wanted to know what the preferred method of attachment would be. Is it OK to just use Tapcon screws to mount the slatwall directly to the masonry wall or is there a better way? I'm also guessing it would be a...
I'm getting ready to close on my first house at the end of this month. I'm mostly looking forward to setting up my garage as the rest of the house is pretty much "move-in" ready. This being my first garage I, of course, want it to be perfect. My first project is lighting. The garage is...
They are very directional. I have a hard time setting it down in just the right spot so it lights up what I'm working on. When it's pointing in exactly the right direction it works great. It being cordless is awesome and I think it's worth the price if you are like me and would rather work blind...
