Trying to find a good replacement for old G.E. type R breakers.

Thanks for the responses. I'm going to live with what I have until spring, then getting a new service. Current setup is a Zinsco meter base and load center with a G.E. sub panel. Early to mid '50's. Toast.

Trying to find a good replacement for old G.E. type R breakers.

I have an old G.E. panel in my home, and I want to upgrade the breakers. I find that the SquareD homeline breakers and other type BR breakers fit, but they seem to have more play side to side than the originals. The blade they clamp onto is rather thin. I'm wondering if this is safe.

common trip bar on 110 breakers

Thx again. Okay, so what could the consequences be if there were not a handle tie on the breakers? Sorry about the dumb questions, but I'm just curious and this is a new situation for me.

common trip bar on 110 breakers

Thanks for the response. Makes sense. Is there any chance that the coupling with the other breaker would inhibit the trip of the breakers if there was a short on one side?

common trip bar on 110 breakers

I have recently noticed that the 110 breakers on the garbage disposal and dishwasher in my apartment are set up like a 220 circuit, with a bar across the breakers that says 'common trip'. Why would this be done?

First time using a table saw today

You should google 'board buddies', and consider getting a set for your saw fence. I've been using mine for 25 yrs. and they take a lot of the pucker factor out of general ripping. They have the added advantage of making your cuts cleaner, too. You still have to be careful, because wood can...

    Hammers: I'm confused.

I knew a guy who hit one hammer with another to get it under an imbedded nail. He underwent a brief surgery to remove the metal chip from near the bone in his forearm.
