    Dividing Head Mystery - Stumped

Gents - I was cleaning out a cabinet at work to reorganize our milling machine accessories and found a small, semi-rusty dividing head. It's probably capable of 6" diameter work? I've been cleaning it up to use again (our only dividing head), but realized there was no chuck. I've searched the...

What bearing is this? (belt grinder)

Thanks ORJ. Those links didn't come up when I searched. I had no clue what to really search for. Those pages you sent seem to have bearings that have a broad crown on the outside. The ones I pulled out have parallel sides. (Picture 2) Here was the Polish site I found. (Came back inside to the...

What bearing is this? (belt grinder)

Awhile back I proclaimed an uncalculated "I ****" moment, and was promptly cursed. I broke a bearing housing during disassembly of a belt grinder that was getting tossed at work. In the process, I pulled the bearings to replace them and they're quite strange. What type of bearings are these...

    The VISES of Garage Journal

I'll finally weigh in with my vise. I picked up this Yost 33C a few years ago from a guy that was getting rid of some surplus from the Anniston Army depot. I think the vise was never used based on the condition of the regular jaws and pipe jaws. I ended up making some aluminum jaws for it which...

    Williams Ratcheting Screwdriver?

I just got one of the SO's for work. It's been great this week for putting together some Hubbell 5-15 connectors. I might get that Williams from Mc Master. The fit and finish of the SO is definitely top notch, and the handle has a nice grip. Sent from my Samsung Note 10.1 on Tapatalk

    Which ironworker?

Gentlemen, thank you for all of the information. We finally got a Geka Bendicrop, and it is very nice! I haven't had a project for it yet, and I'm taking off soon until the new year. Here's a photo of it in place. Note how close we are to the crane, MTS, steam pit, storage area, and right...

    I **** -- Free Belt Grinder

Recently the safety people came through our shop and informed us that our belt grinder did not have appropriate guarding. So........ the shop foreman said he was going to scrap it -- that's when I got to take it home, including all the belts we had for it! And wait, yes.... you see...

Anyone bought a new SK set of sockets lately?

I've tested several items at work and can confirm the chrome issues - one reason we're not buying them - we don't like FOD, especially in expensive electronics. The steel is reasonable on the sockets, but the open end wrenches needed help. Ratchets worked out great.

    Which ironworker?

Excellent responses guys! Thanks for the input. The old-head here at the shop is grateful as well. Scotchman was on our list, but the ergonomics and layout weren't what we needed. We're trying to keep from being cornered by management into buying a Baileigh. We'll have a look at the Piranha...

    Which ironworker?

We've got some cash-money at work to get an iron worker. We're looking at the following: Peddinghaus PeddiCat 1 Baileigh SW-62 We're not a production shop. This will be for one-off custom work, or small batches, maybe 10-20 units. Generally we'll make test fixtures or instrumentation...
