    Broken bolt extractor set?

I have had more success in the last year with the Grip Edge broken bolt extractors than I have with any others in the past 19 years. They are IMO well worth the premium.

What’s the use case for the new tekton 1/2” drive large impacts up to 50mm?

In the heavy equipment world, this is a welcome change. You can use something large and heavy to break something loose then switch to a smaller and lighter 1/2" drive to run it out. Same with tightening use 1/2" to snug it and then finish it off with a larger tool. Especially in restricted...

Are tool truck sockets “worth it” for the professional?

That's interesting, I did not know that. I have one of the 301 piece Pittsburgh sets at home that I have used a lot and never had issues. I have Pittsburgh impacts in 3/4" and 1" drive. Never had an issue yet. The rest are Proto, Teton, Kobalt, Cornwell and Capri. I will recommend Snap On...

Are tool truck sockets “worth it” for the professional?

The only advantage that I found with Snap On chrome sockets is they have (had?) the smallest outside diameter. That has saved me a few times as a heavy equipment tech, but the other 99.9% of times any socket will do. I only have the 3/8" set that goes from 8mm to 19mm. I only had to have the...

Ratcheting Wrenches that stay on top of the bolt head or nut

There are many times as a heavy equipment technician that I wished for something like that. Not too many flanged fasteners are used on the equipment I work on. They would be very handy in limited or difficult to access areas. I would love to see a set up to 24mm. I would definitely buy a set.

For a home mechanic what brand of home auto mechanic’s tools would you recommend?

Tekton, and Quinn or Icon from Harbor Freight, for sockets, ratchets, and wrenches. I use mostly Snap-On pliers at work so I don't have an opinion on pliers.

    Harbor Freight ICON Magnetic Matt

I bought one last Friday, I'm very happy with it. I haven't tested it to its limits yet but I had about 15 pounds of metal on it and the mat held it no problem.

Honda Odyssey Crankshaft Bolt Torque Help - Torque + Angle conversion to Torque

There isn't a way to figure out what X is. You just torque the bolt to 48 ft lb and then switch to a breaker bar and turn the bolt an additional 60°.

RBRT Hex bit extractor in the opposite direction?

It should work to tighten it down. The demos I saw in person on the Cornwell truck worked to tighten it within reason on the test block he has.

    RBRT-like torx bits available?

I must have missed that part in your post. If you have common sizes that you use, they do sell individual sockets, but if I had to guess it will be above the $50 Canadian. That being said, in my opinion they are an excellent brand and well worth the money for the hex bits and G-FORS...

    RBRT-like torx bits available?

Check out these from Grip Edge, they are the same as RBRT to the best of my knowledge. Torx bits I don't use torx much but I have their hex bits and I recommend them to everyone.

How do you store long sockets in your tool box?

Could you use a magnetic strip so they stand upright?

Tekton 3/8 drive Impact Swivel Sockets now available

I snagged a 22 & 24mm to see how they do. I have those in half inch drive but, they're too big with a 1/2" gun for some of the equipment I work on.

NEW TEKTON RELEASES OCTOBER & DECEMBER 2024

I'm looking forward to the impact swivels in 3/8 drive. I have a Snap-On set that goes to 19mm, I'm definitely going to get the 22 and 24mm as soon as they are for sale. I like that they are constantly adding things to their line up.

Customizing Tools: Laser Engravings, Colored Chrome, etc

Thank you for the information. I guess I need to do a lot more research. I knew they weren't going to be cheap, but wasn't expecting that price range.

Customizing Tools: Laser Engravings, Colored Chrome, etc

What kind of laser is needed for that? I've been looking online and keep getting conflicting information. I would like to mark some tools and was hoping to find a budget laser to do that.
