The upper blue line is the one I was referring to.

My attempt to make a better hose coupler

This graph shows the average sound produced when disconnecting a Milton V style plug from a Milton V style quick disconnect. Consistently over 120 decibels. The Prevost S1 is much better and safer but I have measured the sound when disconnecting as high as 115 db.

My attempt to make a better hose coupler

Our first two products are tools we use every day that are not currently for sale anywhere. They are therefore not quick disconnect couplings. 100% designed and manufactured in Duluth Minnesota. Production of my latest quick disconnect safety coupler has been delayed due to licensing...

Are direct drive air compressors less efficient? Or motor ratings are not accurate?

Belt driven air compressors tend to have much longer strokes then direct drive which gives them the potential for higher volumetric efficiency.

    Air Hose Size

Orifice plate method. I had an extra hose of the same type with a stripped aluminum 1/4-18 fitting so I cut the fittings off both ends of the hose and replaced them with 5/8 compression fittings and tested this hose. It tested at around 15 PSI drop vs 18 for the other hose.

    Air Hose Size

I just measured the pressure drop across a 25 foot long 3/8 diameter Flexilla hose. At 30 SCFM the pressure drop is 18 PSI. However, half of that is because of the long 1/4 bore in the 1/4 NPT end fittings.

Clamps 101 show your clamps tell stories if you wish about them especially if unique

I didn't spend any time documenting my boat building. I have just a few pictures. I used to have more but they were lost along with many more after hard disc crashes. Here is one more showing the boat being flipped over in my front yard. There are about seven C clamps holding the boat onto the...

Clamps 101 show your clamps tell stories if you wish about them especially if unique

Thanks. I gave it to my step grandson who is driving it in this old video from 9 years ago. He has 2 kids of his own who enjoy it on the local lakes in the summer.

Clamps 101 show your clamps tell stories if you wish about them especially if unique

Half finished and ready to flip over and put on the trailer. Finished with my late brother in law preparing to cast off. I finished this boat over 12 years ago. The reason was to teach my grandson in law how to do it. I designed it with Solidworks.

Clamps 101 show your clamps tell stories if you wish about them especially if unique

I think I counted 80 clamps in use at one point. All bought at Menards. Wound up with 110.

My attempt to make a better hose coupler

While working with high flow couplers an incident occurred that caused me to lose all my hearing in my left ear with inner ear damage that now causes me severe tinnitus. I only have partial hearing in my right ear. This was caused by disconnecting high flow air couplers without hearing...

3D printer, Tell me why I need one

I was able to 3D print a number of structural parts for some prototype beach glass auto drilling machines I built. These were done on an inexpensive hobby printer using ABS. Frank

    air hose coupler help...

I have inner ear damage and am completely deaf in one ear and have severe tinnitus because of disconnecting too many high flow couplers. Please use caution when disconnecting these high flow plugs.

My attempt to make a better hose coupler

Just successfully tested my most radical coupler yet. Can‘t disclose anything but thanks for asking. The work continues..

My attempt to make a better hose coupler

Thanks and "yes" that is my video. I made a few of those couplers back in December of last year and have no plans to produce that design as I have a much better design in the works.

My attempt to make a better hose coupler

I was asked about this before and my answer was: I can make a superior 1/2" coupler but I wouldn't want to be forced to make it compatible with what I consider a inferior plug design (industrial interchange standard). If I was given the freedom to design both then I would be more likely to do it.

My attempt to make a better hose coupler

By "slow", I am referring to the production rate not the speed that the slides move. It takes entirely too long to switch between spindle mode and C axis mode. I started complaining about this with the manufacturers back in the late 80s. For what it's worth, I designed a production CNC machine...

My attempt to make a better hose coupler

Thanks. Hopefully we can get a prototype of my new miniature push to connect coupler finished this week. My 70th birthday is Friday and a successful test of this after only starting to think about on Wednesday would be an awesome present. All the parts have to be made on our Haas ST10Y CNC...

Air tool swivel fittings: looking for feedback

We are targeting a retail price around 25 bucks depending on version. Pretty darn good considering it will be made in the USA from USA sourced materials only and it's closest competition is 95 bucks. (Freedom Swivel) from Gripnail Ours is significantly smaller and lighter.

Air tool swivel fittings: looking for feedback

I certainly understand, especially considering I believe all the so called swivels on the market are worthless or at least cumbersome and awkward. I hope to get mine on the market in the near future.
