Yet Another 4 Post Lift Thread - Help needed :)

That's a good point. I'm looking at the higher rise models. My ceiling is 12ft, and I know depending what I put on it I have to be careful not to run it into the ceiling. But I rather have that little extra height to walk under like you are saying. Or be able to put my pickup under it with...

Yet Another 4 Post Lift Thread - Help needed :)

Not to hijack this thread but I just started shopping for a 4 post lift myself. 8 or 9k is plenty for me, but I prefer to have the height where I can part a 2wd pickup (72" tall) under it. I've been looking long an hard at the Bendpak HD9XW but after talking to the folks at best buy auto...

Window air conditioner for garage (24x32x12)

Just wanted to come back and post some thoughts/updates. The 8k stuggles but seems to serve me fine for my intended purposes. If I turn it down the night before, it will keep it around 70 on a 85-90 degree day. I'm graphing my power usage with a smart plug so I can see when it's cycling...

Window air conditioner for garage (24x32x12)

So just an early update. Got it in and running around dinner time last night. It was 78 in the garage and I cranked it down to 68. I'm not sure how much it ran thru the night to drop the temp, but it was 69 in the garage this morning and it wasn't running. I left it set there thru the day...

Window air conditioner for garage (24x32x12)

I picked up the 8k. All the 10's I looked at have the same case size as the 12's. Just a touch too tall for my windows. I can always pick up a small 5k for another window down the road too I suppose. Good point too is it'll help the humidity.

Window air conditioner for garage (24x32x12)

I get the whole heat mass thing. Goes back to, is it really worthwhile to turn up your house AC during the day when nobody is home type thing. But in reality I'm in the garage maybe once a week, sometimes I won't spend but an hour in it all month. I don't think it would make sense to keep...

Window air conditioner for garage (24x32x12)

I've been wanting to cool my garage for a few years. I have NG for heat. Saw some window AC units pop up on sale at Sams. Picked up the 12k BTU unit and went to put it in, but I cheaped out on my windows and it won't fit. I need about another inch of height. :( I know 12k is even a little...

Garage opener wiring (older commercial model)

I'll have to take another look. I thought I had a picture on my phone but I don't. The building was built in late 80's, early 90s, so I suspect them to be around that vintage. I could definitely make a 3 channel work, was just hoping to use a 3 button remote to control 3 doors and not...

Garage opener wiring (older commercial model)

I'll have to take a look at that. I was thinking there must have been some sort of limit switch that closes when the door is fully open. I tried jumping all the terminals on the side, R3 to C3 is the only one that does anything. There's definitely power on RCP because I get a little spark...

Garage opener wiring (older commercial model)

Thanks. I guess I just assumed the 3 terminals on the side were some sort of proprietary receiver. I'm looking at the manual for the liftmaster professional 412HM that looks like I could use. So following my assumption, I tried touching C3 to RC and that opens the door. Once the door is...

Garage opener wiring (older commercial model)

Looking to add a universal remote type setup to an older commercial opener. Something like the liftmaster 850LM. I want to do this in single channel mode so I can use one remote for 3 doors. It's a Overhead Door SEL-171 (don't bother googling, not much out there) Currently it's wired up...

Compressor intercooler - Flexible line from pump head?

TNToy, Nice setup. And nice Dillon in the background. :) That thread some years ago was my motivation to make a aftercooler/intercooler setup for my compressor. I just did some digging in the attic and found a old AC condensor from a Honda I had ages ago. It's a stacked plate parallel flow...

Compressor intercooler - Flexible line from pump head?

That looks roughly the same size as mine. Mine is about 5x10. But I have two screamer delta 120mm fans on it. The top fan exhaust temp is around 200-220, the bottom one is about 90. The line going into the cooler is too hot for my IR thermometer to read but line coming out of the...

Compressor intercooler - Flexible line from pump head?

Very nice and clean. I think we have the same compressor. 60 gal porter cable from Tractor Supply? :)

Compressor intercooler - Flexible line from pump head?

I should say the cooler was 25 years old off a car that I scrapped. I've had it running on my compressor for another 5 years or so. :)

Owners of Detached Shops & Attached Garages: How do You Distribute Tools?

This! I have a good bit of duplicate tools, but it almost never fails that I'm running back and forth getting tools that I need.

Compressor intercooler - Flexible line from pump head?

I've actually thought about using just a longer length of copper tube. I have plenty from the first go-round. I think I used maybe 3 feet out of the 25ft coil. I have my current setup mounted rigidly to the top of the compressor mounting plate with heavy angle. It vibrates a lot. I guess...

Good deal guys. I've got some ideas now. :) Thanks

Compressor intercooler - Flexible line from pump head?

I have a pretty run of the mill single stage 60 gal compressor. Years ago I made a intercooler from a old car oil cooler and some muffin computer fans. Plumbed it in with soft copper tubing and mounted it to the compressor. The vibration of the compressor finally took it's toll on the...
