    Vintage wood lathe

Can anyone identify this old wood lathe that I plan to restore? I can find no name or number anywhere on it. There are two holes in the metal cover about 2 inches apart where I suspect the tag was. Thanks.

    Stanley level 42-509

I bought this little level at a flea market for a buck or two. Seeing the on/off button I figured it either had a laser or was internally lighted. Now that I have it I can't figure out why it has the switch. There is obviously no laser and I can see no place for batteries. Anyone know?

    Lathe & tool puzzle

Along with all the good stuff I got with my new (to me) Logan lathe, I got this. The 1/2" socket is WELDED on. Why would someone do that, and what would it be used for? Thanks.

    First time lathe owner

I just bought my first lathe, a 1943, I believe, Logan model 200. I had a friend that knows much more about lathes than I, check it out. He says it is in great shape. It came with both 3 & 4 jaw chucks , the milling attachment, and other things. I plan to clean it up and learn how to use it...

    cleaning/restoring aluminum

I have not yet found a method of thourougly cleaning & restoring aluminum tools and tool parts, like the handle on a saw I picked up today. Blasting, whether sand or glass, doesn't leave the right surface texture nor does abrasive cleaning such as wire brushing or sanding. I can't figure how to...

    Handsaw collecting

I've been "into" mostly hacksaws for a few years. Now I'm also collecting handsaws. Here's a blurry pic of a few I picked up today. All but two are Disstons. The second from the top in the first pic is my favorite so far. Check out the close up of the handle.

    Vintage (?) Bandsaw

I picked this bandsaw up cheap at the local scrapyard. It runs but needs cleaning & painting. Both tires came off the pulleys, assuming both pulleys had tires originally. One of the faucet handle style knobs is missing. I hope I don't get scolded AGAIN because my **** is not vintage enough...

    Miter tool

I know I might get scolded (again) for posting this piece of junk because it's not very vintage, but here it is. I bought it used, cheap a few years ago. I now have a new to me storage building and am moving some of my stuff from my garage to the new space. This will have a place on the wall...

    Vintage drill powered lathe

Today I bought this SHOR-LINE model 40-110 drill powered lathe. I know it's not very practical but it was cute, I liked it, and it was cheap. I can find nothing about it on the 'net. It includes a very small vise, and three places for chisels to rest. I might never find a drill that will fit...

    Vintage solder?

I just picked up several rolls of solder at a local thrift store. This old one included. Reckon how old it is?

    Auto or truck lug wrench

This came with a 1923 Dodge Brothers sedan a friend just bought. We don't think it is "for" the DB. Can anyone identify it?

    Mystery to me wrench

I'm wondering what this wrench is for, who made it, and when. I'm guessing it is for opening valves and the two points are for clearing orifices. What say ye?

    Simpson meter

I picked up this meter at a tractor show for $2. I couldn't pass it up.

    fold down bench grinders

I saw a video on Youtube in which a gent had modified large barn door type hinges and mounted bench grinders so that the grinders fold down, under the bench when not in use. They are held under the bench by a latch until needed. Anyone tried it? What do you all think?

    swivel table

First off, let me say that my garage is overstuffed, mostly from being dis-organized, but I'm working on it. Thinking about anything/everything I can do to use my space more wisely, I think I will build two stands/tables for some of my power tools. Each table will have a top on it, just large...

    Studebaker wrench

My daily driver is a '55 Studebaker truck on a '87 Dodge Dakota chassis with a 4.3 Chevy V6. I just got a "new" '49 Studebaker truck, also a half-ton, and this wrench was with it. It is an original equipment Studebaker tool. I'm checking to see what other tools would have come with the truck so...

    Another handful of hacksaws

I recently bought another bunch of saws. Included was a small one with cast frame and hollow handle. It has no name or numbers on it, but has small stars cast into it. Can anyone identify the maker and/or the age?

    Craftsman bench grinder

First post in a while, I just today bought a vintage(?) Craftsman bench grinder, model 397-19501, cheap. Someone restoring one like it on YouTube said the 397- prefix indicates that it was made by Delco. It runs great but needs a new cord. I plan to restore it and use it. And, yes I know it's...

    Carroll Jamieson lathe

I found this but have not seen it in person and don't know if anything else is included besides what's shown. How old do you think it is and is it worth rebuilding? I don't know enough about lathes to evaluate it's condition. Thanks.
