Garage Heater Used as a Blower...

Not the answer you were looking for. I am not familiar with this unit, but it isn't rocket science. I think you can do it, just need to suss it out. A toggle switch should do it.

1968 Original Gilbarco cylinder and plunger in ground lift

Are you sure that is a vent?? On mine (admittedly not a Gilbarco, but equally as old) there is no vent, just a pipe plug in the top of the ram. If this isn't tight, it leaks, oil and pressure. PS. It's a hybrid, ram a Rotary, head a Globe. The pipe plug is the fill hole.

Can I MIG weld stainless steel tubing to steel tubing?

Yes. Stainless wire is probably "better", mild steel will work (be strong enough) Stainless wire should use pure argon..

Is it dangerous to throw a chain around a beam to be used to attach a chain hoist?

I'd do it. Just stand clear when you lift. Nothing will happen. Don't overthink this. Make sure the chain is strong enough (no bell chain).

Natural gas furnace for detached garage

I have a ceiling mount gas furnace, spark ignition. I prefer to keep the shop at 40 degrees, plus or minus to keep things from freezing. I bought a "garage thermostat" to allow me to set it thus, will go down that far. I have read warnings saying it shouldn't go below 50 to keep the moisture...

What is the process for having a custom garage planned/drawn?

I have a buddy who is a licensed civil engineer. Did everything I needed, and more. Stamp on the drawings works. He drew them.

buying an electric motor used - Came from pool pump or water pump - run or buy?

You're paying too much for bearings. The price on the motor is OK. You can't hear "light wear" on bearings. Either they're noisy, or they're not. Turn the shaft by hand. Slowly and carefully, you can feel bad bearings. Sooner than you can hear them.

    In ground lift identification

Well, you could put a muffler on the exhaust on the discharge pipe. Small engine mufflers helped, discharge into a 5 gallon bucket with the lid on helped, many more possibilities. A tin can full of cotton, I've used 'em all. I'd plumb it outside, but I used to work pretty late, liked my...

Darex M5 Drill Bit Sharpener - Craigslist pick up

I bought some of those straps, I think from ebay or Amazon a couple of years ago. They weren't expensive, as I recall. I bought them as spares, haven't needed them yet. It is a perfect sharpener for an amateur.

1948 Sinclair Station single post rotary lift

I have a single post Globe with a Rotary head. They interchanged. About the same vintage. Bought used, 35 years ago, installed myself 34 years ago. No antirotation post, rarely if ever a problem, only occasionally when raising or lowering, need to steer the vehicle to keep it straight. The...

    Air compressor oil change.....crazy prices!!

I may be wrong, but seems to me 1955 Chevys had an add on oil filter as an option. It was a separate canister, not on the block.

    Air compressor oil change.....crazy prices!!

I was told that the reason for ND oil is you don't want the oil to pick up the contaminants, you want them to settle in the crankcase. If in suspension, they add to wear. And, since there are no combustion products, there is much less contamination.

    Bearing puller

Years ago, Mexican tool distributors asked Proto to let them market Proto in Mexico. Proto wasn't interested. So they asked for and got permission to make and marlket Proto clones in Mexico (only). Then when Proto got swallowed up by Stanley or some such Urrea was able to market in the US...

    Bearing puller

Urrea tools are Mexican made clones of Proto. In my (limited) experience, as good. And, Urrea has a distribution center in San Antonio. And, yes I have their pullers. And, they work. Urrea has an agreement with Proto to manufacture (and now sell) clones of Proto.
