    Cutting laminate countertop

used: masking tape and the 150 tooth blade + the flip over recommendations, worked very well. Backsplashes are tricky, but I had plenty of extra to practice with. I didn't see the tip on placing the 2x4s under it to hold the fall off, ended up taking a tiny chip off when the first piece...

    Cutting laminate countertop

I need to cut a bit off the end of the countertop. All I have to work with is a circular saw. Should I score the laminate with a razor knife first to avoid chipping? Would a fine tooth circular saw blade help?

    Countertop desk/ worktop

Hammer, the brackets that I saw at Lowes I think are the same ones that ooman described, 20" side, fairly thick with a cross brace, 1-1/8" wide back, looks nice and sturdy. edit: I think it was this one or similar: 20" x 13" x 1-1/8" supports 1,000 lbs. per pair Accommodates a shelf depth of...

    Countertop desk/ worktop

was thinking about making a desk/worktop out of a section or two of countertop.... the catch being that it is bracketed to finished wall studs instead of built on a base. Nothing heavy going on it, maybe a computer monitor, some DIY books, car manuals, etc. anyone else do this? How did it work out?

We got the floor poured Saturday, it was in the 70s last weekend during the day, lows in the mid 50s Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. Now, being typical Missouri weather, it monsooned 3" of rain last night, and we are expecting a high today of only 55, and lows tonight just below freezing. Temps...

Connecting PVC to galvanized elbow to hydrant

another question: would it be better if I use dope and tape on the metal to metal connections, and just tape on the pvc to metal threads? I ask because I have a slight worry that the dope will lube the plastic "too much" and I'd possibly overtighten the plastic fitting. Is that easy to do or...
