    Welder purchase questions

Hey guys, I am getting my project Jeep back from the guy who’s doing the gears soon and have a project on my list that will require a welder. Short version is, I’ve welded in the past and am capable. I want to build a spare tire carrier that uses the trailer hitch. Currently this is the main...

    Garage Fans

Merry almost Christmas all! I have a two car garage that is heated and insulated with 10’ ceilings. I don’t to a lot of work in the garage, but when I do I enjoy the heat in the winter. I know warm air rises and I should have a fan(s) to push the air down. On one half of the garage is a jeep top...

    Floor Jack and Jack stands

I’m picking up a Jeep tomorrow to be a fun ride around project vehicle. I don’t plan anything TOO major, but I would at least like to swap the rear brakes to disk, and add a brake booster. To do all that, I need a set of jack stands and a decent floor jack. Looking around, jack stands seem to be...

    Garage updates and questions

Hey guys, the time has come to put some time and money into the garage. Currently it is a 2.5ish car garage, that has insulated and drywalled walls and ceilings. I would like to have the garage a little more comfortable and look a little nicer. I have three things I want to do, and will...

    Semi finished garage air movement

Hey guys, I am in Wisconsin and have a semi-finished garage. Concrete floor, insulated and drywalled walls and ceiling. Currently when we bring in a car after it rains, rain sheds off the car and pools on the floor. With everything closed up it just gets damp and muggy in there. What is the...

    Toolbox quality hierarchy

Fellow GJ peeps, in a previous life I was a mechanic for 15 years or so on various things. I’ve owned Craftsman, MAC, and SnapOn boxes. I am no longer wrenching for a living but do a little here and there at home. For heavy daily use I would have kept my Snappy box, but for the sporadic use at...

Craftsman box without wheels on wood frame?

Hey guys, I need to increase my tool storage in my garage. I have a 52” craftsman top and bottom box that are full. Due to space issues I was thinking of buying another 52” or 60”, taking the wheels off and trying to build a thin 1x1 frame under the box so it would fit under my work bench. Is it...

    Help IDing coworkers tabletop mill

Hey guys, I was at a coworkers house last night and he was showing me a tabletop mill he acquired recently. It looks like it’s been painted, and there are no identifying marks or labels. Is there anyone that can ID this or tell us what to look for in IDing it? Thanks in advance.

I’ve sinned. I bought another tool brand.

I’ve been a Dewalt guy for years. I have maybe 8 tools and batteries. Yesterday I needed a rotary hammer drill. Walked right to the Milwaukee section and bought a nice one and picked up a battery and charger since it doesn’t run on hopes and dreams. For whatever reason, I didn’t even think to...

    New home toolbox

Hey guys, I recently stopped my day job as a diesel mechanic. I don’t have room for my work tool box at home, so I’m selling it back to the snap-on guy. I am in need of a new toolbox for at home. What are good at home brands? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Steel garage/home... Shome? Build

Hey guys. My wife and I are considering building a smaller home to live in for the next 40 years or so. We bought our current home with the intention of having kids, and now we're not going to so we don't need a house this size. The size of the house would probably be in the low 1,000sqft range...

    Trailer floor 5/8 or 3/4

Putting a new floor in my dads trailer. It had 5/8" plywood that was rotten and got ripped out. The biggest thing he hauls is a big zero turn mower. The trailer is a 6x10 with one support running the length at the 4' mark and supports running width wise every 2'. Would 5/8" work or am I better...
