Anybody any experience with Craftsman 2000 series?

Anybody have any experience with Craftsman 2000 series? I'm thinking about getting a tool chest/cabinet in the future, and I saw the Craftsman 2000 series at Lowe's and thought they looked nice, but I didn't really look at them too closely. I wasn't really interested thinking that it was just...

    First Toolbox (semi) Restoration

A few months back I got a Western Auto 3 drawer toolbox at an auction and it was kind of rough so I decided to repaint it. The drawers were easy to find paint for since they were about the same shade as Craftsman red, but the box it self was dark greyish color that I wasn't able to find so I...

    Question About Craftsman Screwdrivers

I've decided to do a detailed history on Craftsman Screwdrivers from 1950-2016, starting with the classic butyrate handled type. The butyrate handled type was introduced in late 1950, before learning this I thought they entered production when Western Forge was started in 1965. I've been looking...

Cool New Old Craftsman Radial Arm Saw

My dad picked this up at an auction for $60. It's a model 113.29402 by Emerson. The tag on the base has a date of 3/64, but the motor is dated 2/74. I think that must be a typo because of the pointed A's in the craftsman logo. It needs a new plug, but that's an easy fix.

    Wizard Ratchet Repair Help Needed

I bought this old Wizard ratchet at a garage sale for a $1. It was rusty and I thought it would be an easy fix. I was wrong, the insides were rustiest and dirtiest I had ever seen, it was just packed with dirt. The outside cleaned up nicely though. Anyway when I took the cover plate off, the...

Powr Kraft and Wizard Catalog Help

Does anybody know where to find Wizard and Powr Kraft catalogs or Montgomery Ward and Western Auto catalog scans? I've looked all over and I can only find a few Montgomery Ward Christmas catalogs which don't cover much in the way of tools and the only Wizard catalog is from 1955.

Need Help With the Different Proto Brands

I know that Proto had several brands: Proto, obviously, then Challenger, Fleet, P&C, and Penens. I know Proto was the highest tier, but what about the other brands, where did they stack up? I'm used to seeing either a good, better, best arrangement or an encomy line and a standard line. And why...

    Craftsman Socket Evolution 1948-2024

Part III ADDED Craftsman Socket Evolution 1948-2024 In this time of great boredom I have written the first part in a series about Craftsman sockets. Part I will cover Moore Drop Forge and Easco, Part II will cover Danaher's takeover of Easco and their U.S. production, Part III will cover...

Need Help With Western Auto Tool Box Restoration and Info.

I have this Western Auto, model number 45-4889-7, 3 drawer tool box and judging by the construction it is a Waterloo. I think it was made between 1975-81ish by the Western Auto logo, I know Waterloo marked their boxes in the left corner, but I have yet to find it. I am going to repaint it but I...

    HUGE Vintage Tool Haul.

So I won some big lots at a local estate auction $110 for everything, bunch of sockets, 6 ratchets, tool box, and a Black and Decker 3/4" drill from the 1930s. The tool box is a 3 drawer Western Auto made by Waterloo, I can't find a date code on it, but the Western Auto logo is from 1975-81ish...

    Odd Craftsman Code

I originally posted this on lauver's Craftsman code thread, but it didn't seem to get any responses so I am hoping that it might get more attention here. I found this craftsman socket with a 7 code which according to the chart means easco stainless and lifetime ratchets but it doesn't say...

Need help identifying this bit brace.

I found this old 10" bit brace that was my grandfather's or great grandfather's. It is marked "MADE IN USA" on the body, M 148 on one jaw, M 149 on the other. If it was my grandfather's it would place it between the late 40s- late 50s, if it was my great grandfather's it would probably be late...

Show Off Your Vintage Milwaukee Electric Tools.

Milwaukee model 3A drill I couldn't find a thread dedicated to vintage Milwaukee so I decided to start one. My only vintage Milwaukee is this 2.5 amp 1/4" model 3A Hole Shooter drill. The only other place I have seen one is in this 1952 catalog and it's not mentioned in the 1955 catalog so I...
