Building Your Own Work Bench And Cabinets

It's all about what works for each of us individually. As mentioned above, I prefer to have as much covered storage as possible to keep dust and everything else that's flying around off my stuff - makes cleanup a lot easier. My cabinets are on wheels so they have a built in toe-kick. Since I...

Building Your Own Work Bench And Cabinets

Thanks. Pretty much just 1 X pine and 2 X framing. I like the SS tops a lot, they can take a beating and you can get really good deals on used stuff. A little Flitz polish will take out any stains.

Building Your Own Work Bench And Cabinets

Looks nice! Here's one that I built. Only stained it although I'll probably paint it. For the top I went to a used restaurant supply place and bought a couple of 6' stainless steel prep tables. Work great as tops and can be used stand-alone as well.

    E Bay ripoff

Couldn't agree more. 1/2 the stuff on there can be purchased new for much less that the BIN, the rest is overpriced  Once in awhile a good deal, but few are far between.

Chamberlain Wisper Drive (3/4 HP) with battery backup - works great, has to pull up a 16' door with hurricane bracing.

Which Drill and Impact Driver set to get?

We have a couple of the Makita LCT300W sets. My wife's a GC and beats the ^%$^ out of them. No problems. Good weight to power ratio.

Bosch PS60 12V recip saw compared to Milwaukee M12 Hackzall

I have the Milwaukee and have been disappointed with it for sure. Not a lot of power and short battery life. OK for real light duty stuff, but other than that not impressed. Use if mostly for electrical as well. Guess I'll take a look at the Mikita.

    Ideas for Ladder Storage

I've been using these from HD for a year or so (they come in a couple of different sizes). They work out pretty well, haven't had a crash yet (they're screwed into the bottom plates of the trusses).

    Let's see your toolbox.

Well, last year I sold my '70s SO collection I had when I was an A&P back the early 70s. Figured I wouldn't be doing much wrenching so didn't need the stuff. Low and behold, restoring a C3 Vette, so had to "re-stock". There's still some old SO, Bonney, Utica, etc. in the box though. Here's a...

    Let's see your toolbox.

Metalhead, The colored sockets are a beater set I got at HF. The compressor's OK, use to to run light air tools, tires and blow guns. Like the portability. Had it for a year or two and no problems so far. It does like to run!
