6" Mystery, Rear Dynamic Jaw, Huge Vise

Just came in to this one tonight. Barely had a chance to photograph it, no visible markings jumped out at me. This sucker is heavy. Anyone care to ID it? Unfortunately the handle has been replaced with a bolt, bummer. I only turned the screw one turn but it moved freely.

    Vintage? Socket rails, Chatay Prod

Havn't seen socket rails like this much, even with the crazy amount of threads on the topic. Cant find them anywhere on the web save for a patent document from 1981 (that vintage?). Thought I would share. They are aluminum, no magnets, but the fit is so good that you almost have to flip them...

    Interesting CL Vise (not mine)

I thought this vise was interesting, figured i'd share for the vise folks on the forum. He lists it as a "railroad vise." No name or weight and the rear jaw moves. Very interesting base. I'm no vise expert, but seems unique. http://pittsburgh.craigslist.org/tls/4508224791.html

    Craftsman 506 vs 391 vise

EDIT< lets just make this my new craftsman vise thread. Picked up 2 tiny ones and sank them in vinegar Loving the vise knowledge that I've seen on this forum. I've been using a craftsman 506 for about 15 years with one missing jaw face replaced by a nice piece of hard steel. Makes the jaw...

    Help ID Vise Please

I came in to this vise as a package craigslist deal with another vise that I bought as a gift. Im quite happy with my Craftsman 506 (though I could use a new jaw face), but thinking I might make a portable for outdoor use out of this one. So i've read up alot on the site about vises and learned...
