Yes, I have a seperate thread with insulation questions going on right now. Apparently, R30 is what's recommended for attics but that might be too "thick" to put up there. I guess I'll end up purchasing the highest possible R value that still "fits".
Not sure, never measured it. But the...
I didn't think about the thickness or the R30, good point. I should probably measure and see how much room I have to accomodate insulation.
I'm not heating or cooling, but I would at least prevent the garage from heating up as quickly as compared to not having any insulation whatsoever, right?
Thanks for the help so far everyone. Looks like I'll be making a trip to Home Depot and picking up some R30. This should do the job:

Thanks everyone. I promise to take a few high-resolution pictures with my nice camera today.
Painting the garage was one of the more frustrating things. Couple of things I learned:
1) Paint the way you want it before adding anything else, such as the Gladiator Garageworks items, baseboards...
Painted the ceiling, put in some black molding on the bottom.
Bought some Gladiator Garage Works products to hang items on the wall, impressed with their offerings. Will be buying more of it!
View of the drive I put in...
Nothing like a good full frontal.
Ladies & Gents,
My wife and I purchased our first home three years ago. The house was perfect, apart from the fact there was no garage and no good storage in the attic. Solution: we had a 22x18 space built with steep trusses. Please enjoy the build!
This is what it looked like after we cut...
I cannot insulate the garage itself as I have drywall, and it's fully painted.
However, I can insulate the attic. Perhaps someone can give me some guidance there? I don't want to do any spray insulation as I use the attic as storage (we don't have storage in the house itself).
One of my first posts! :rocker:
My wife and I purchased our first home about three years ago. I didn't come with a garage, and of course I had a nice 22x18 detached garage built. I will post a seperate thread on the build process.
I would like some assistance in keeping my garage a bit...
Anything with glue is bound to give you issues. I'm in Texas as well, and my vinyl siding has had to be re-glued twice now due to the constant 90F+ temperatures we've been having.
Looks fantastic. What is the fabric you are putting underneath the tiles?
Also, let me know how the TuffShield works out. Local guy who sells Racedeck told me it scratches very easily and to stay away from it unless you had a "show car garage".
Interested how your personal experience is.
Looks great! I just purchased 4' by 17' worth of tiles to see if I could like Racedeck flooring in my garage, and a rubber mallet would have come in handy. Using your fist on a few tiles isn't a problem, but by the last tile, not so much :)
