    Torque Wrench Ranges

It's a bit difficult to explain. One thing to keep in mind is that most torque wrenches don't actually directly measure the torque applied, they measure the flex at the mechanism, which on most wrenches is off-center, whether it's mechanical or electronic. X amount of flex corresponds to Y...

Wrong. Grip location absolutely does matter on those style wrenches.

Chicago Pneumatic die grinder diagnosis: Is this broken snap ring causing this clamp nut to loosen?

The snap ring holds the gear on and has nothing to do with the nut loosening. I use blue loctite on those nuts, and use a junk socket with tabs cut into it to tighten it down. As for the vibration, it's possible that from the shaft moving and disengaging the gears that they have worn. I've seen...

Question for gurus about fluorescent lights that don't work...

Just to update everyone, yesterday I hung a couple of the new LEDs, and it went OK. Upon taking down the old lights, I found the ballast in the nonfunctioning light had actually leaked. Here's the lights so far. The 2 to the right are the new LEDs, I didn't have enough time to do all of them...

Question for gurus about fluorescent lights that don't work...

Appreciate the thought, but I'm not sure how old the fixtures are. Also, they're directly down the middle of the room, and even if they all worked I'd still have a lot of shadows at the walls. I plan on changing the layout of the lights out back. I got the 4 ft LEDs from Harbor Freight a while...

Question for gurus about fluorescent lights that don't work...

I plan on replacing the 8 footers with 4 ft LEDs. I've purchased the new ones already, I just haven't gotten them installed yet. This is what I have currently:

Question for gurus about fluorescent lights that don't work...

In one part of my garage, there are 5 fluorescent light fixtures, each 8 feet long with 2 bulbs. I plan on replacing them with LED in the near future, as of the 5 fixtures, only 2 work when they feel like it. With those other 3 that don't work, it made me wonder...how much electricity does a...

    New Snap-On F100

I've seen what the older 36 tooth and current 80 tooth look like inside, and I knew the 80 won't fit, but it ***** the 100 won't fit into the 36 area despite looking similar. Oh well.

    New Snap-On F100

The internals of the ratchet housing looks similar to the older 36 tooth design, wonder if a 100 kit will fit into a 36 housing?

    Testing Torque Wrenches

No, accuracy is not affected by drive size adapters. What will affect it is on a smaller drive like the 1/4" you're talking about, it may not have the resolution of a dedicated smaller tester, for example if the tester only reads down to say .5 ft-lb increments, that would be fine for 3/8" or...

Tools Where Air Power is Still Relevant

My dentist here a couple weeks ago used a battery tool for the cleaning. Now, as for drilling for fillings, I dunno, I'll find out in a couple weeks.

Tools Where Air Power is Still Relevant

The place I visited used a Deutz air cooled diesel with a belt driven compressor filling some old I think 500ish gallon propane tanks. He had a timer set for 30 minutes, it would start, run for 30 minutes to fill the tanks and then shut off. Then he could work for a while before having to...

Tools Where Air Power is Still Relevant

Some Amish only use air tools. Was just at a sharpening shop where everything was air powered. Bench grinders, sanders, even a winch for lifting the heavier reel mowers were all air powered. I'll have to post pics when I get home.

Air ratchet: Which oil for the gears?

Just use grease. That's what I've always used in air ratchet gears. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk

Date Code for Snap-On Torque Wrench?

I think they use part of the serial number as the date code. What's the first couple digits? Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk

Not a garage , but my baseboard heaters are gurgling

Sounds like you have air in the line. We had that too, it did that on our whole second floor. On the furnace there was a regulator that controlled the pressure in the system that went bad. Air got in and found its way to the highest level in the system. Plumber installed a new regulator and bled...

    Air tools - over lubrication

I've seen ATF cause issues with some plastic internals on air tools. Plus it doesn't have the film strength of regular oil. Just use the right stuff, you'll be fine. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk

    audio ground loop

Some audio schematics I've seen for buildings specify "same phase same leg" for connected equipment. If you have them on adjacent breakers they would be on opposite legs. Try changing to the same leg and see if the issue goes away. Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk

    WTF Snap on IM6500HP impact

Did they say what was actually wrong with it? Afaik many of the parts are NLA, but they still can sometimes fix them. As for it being "not made by Snap-on", that's BS. They most certainly were. Have you ever seen another brand gun that looks like it? Sent from my XT1635-01 using Tapatalk
