    What is this?

Thanks, so instead of double nutting this can be used? I feel like it would chew the threads up

    'Best' cordless 3/8 " ratchet?

It seems the matco 16v puts a whooping on everything else. Ya the snap on and matco are pricey but you get what you pay for.. 70 ft lbs and cordless, that's badass

Thoughts On 12 Point & Semi Deep Sockets

Why does the manufacturer choose to use the 12pt on the flywheel or driveshaft ect?

Makita impact? - lug nut removal

It seems to have the exact same specs. Minus an auto stop feature which to me seems pointless.. they should have released a mid torque model to compete with milwaukee

Makita impact? - lug nut removal

I have an old beat up Dewalt DCF880 1/2" brushed impact rated for 150ftlbs. I was hoping to get something similar in size and have a nice chunk more power so I "upgraded" to the 02z Makita. Ended up putting out very similiar power..Don't get me wrong it has better features but overall it's...

An IMPACT ratchet will do it such as the hammerhead.

Makita impact? - lug nut removal

To be honest I was also dissapointed with the 02z..That reducer and 3/8th drive chrome socket I assume are killing some power. I have a Dewalt DCF899 for the bigger stuff, this is a good impact for 70% of uses. I wish I would have held out for the Milwaukee mid torque, I feel it would handle...

Makita impact? - lug nut removal

I have the xwt02z. If you have a meaty impact socket it should zip off most any vehicles lugnuts. The 08 is overkill IMO, the lowest tq. Setting is like 500ft lbs too.. With the 02 you can max out setting 2 for 80ft lbs or 3 for around 150. Basically no chance of snapping a stud or undertorqing.

Looking to buy my first torch

I broke a manifold to downpipe stud on a 05 explorer v8. I can hammer a bolt extractor socket on what's left of the stud but what's cheapest way of getting the cast manifold cherry? Thanks

    1/2" cordless impacts....Makita 18 volt vs Dewalt 20 volt

Make sure you get the DCF899, it will put the 889 to shame. Makita XWT08Z, and Milwaukee 2763 are comparable but much larger and poorly thought out torque setting on the Makita.. If I had to do it over again I would start with Milwaukee platform..mid torque wrench looks the bomb

    The VISES of Garage Journal

What is this worth? I have been needing a vise for a while and don't want to get some harbor freight junk.. At my old shop we would use the vise sometimes for bearing into knuckle jobs..is the 3.5" jaw going to be a limiting factor? Thanks American Red Seal vise No. 62 3.5" Jaw with Swivel...

    Air Impacts are DEAD

For all the people not happy with the power of the heavy duty impacts they are not buying the latest models. Yes they are pricey and large/heavy but they wont let you down when you need power. Dewalt. DCF899 Milwaukee. 2763 Makita. Xwt08z Spend the extra for the 6ah battery...

Milwaukee ratchet more powerful with 4.0xc battery

I have had the Milwaukee ratchet for about two years now and been using it with the supplied 2.0 batteries. Runtime is excellent so no need to upgrade, plus I had a spare. I recently purchased the M12 Rover light, which destroys the 2.0 batteries to the point of having to have one on the...

    1/2" Torque Wrench

At that torque hitting it with an impact or maxing your wrench will be fine. I'm working on a 92 VW and the Crank pulley bolt calls for 66 ft lbs. If you hit that with an impact and it puts 250+ ft lbs you may run into issues..
