Cabinet for Small Parts Storage Cases

Goo gone and a razor blade was how I did mine. Peel as much as you can, spray with goo gone, do the next one. After I did them all I went back to the first one with the razor blade and got as much off as I could easily, sprayed more goo gone, then went in to the next one. Took about an hour to...

Woodshop + 2 Cars in 22x24 - Here we go!

Posted this on the Small Parts Storage Cabinet thread as well, but it fits here too... A while ago I got some of the HF small parts storage cases to organize my hardware and had been plotting for a while how best to do it. This is what I came up with. 3/4 inch baltic birch plywood for the...

Cabinet for Small Parts Storage Cases

Here's my humble submission. 3/4 inch baltic birch plywood for the case construction and 1/4 for the shelves the cases sit on. I started with a bunch of the HF cases and decided I wanted to put it on top of my 4 drawer lateral file cabinet I use for power tool storage. I also didn't want to...

    Between 485 & 705 SQ/FT Mid-Century Moto Mecca Makeover

Gregor - just curious, what do you like to use instead of Lightroom? I liked LR4 the best of the versions I've used and I'm not a big fan of the direction they seem to be heading...... Also, not your architect/camera mentor, but the new Nikon Z7 looks sweet........

What do you use as a parking stop/aid?

I have one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001OOEMMI/?tag=atomicindus08-20 It appears to have been discontinued though :( . The little box is a vibration sensor basically you mount to the opener, when it moves (doesn't take much) the lasers turn on. Best thing ever, and don't have a...

    Tooling (Re)Organization

I think your cabinets turned out great! Maybe I missed it, but what was the reason for the face frames? Your cabinets have plenty of structural rigidity without them and obviously the frames take a decent amount it time to make. Seems like you could have skipped them entirely without...

    Tooling (Re)Organization

Any way you could do something like the Ernst twist lock rails? http://www.ernstmfg.com/Twist-Lock-Socket-Organizers.aspx. You just add you remove clips as needed. One of the best solutions I've seen.

Strouty, Not to add more for you to look at, but I personally use any.do for my to do list stuff. I don't have an iPhone, so I can't comment on how well it integrates with iCloud/Calendars, but it is supposed to. I do know it works superbly well with my mail and google calendar accounts...

Woodshop + 2 Cars in 22x24 - Here we go!

Progress! I had been thinking about how I wanted to store all the random stuff that accumulates in a garage/shop for a while and I remembered seeing ModernJess's Scooter Workshop thread where he made a suspended shelf with Unistrut. Long story short - make a ladder type frame out of unistrut...

Workbench/RAS stand design and fab - input welcome

I'm in the early stages of designing and building a stand on which to put my radial arm saw (a MBF), hopefully a bench top DP, and my granite surface plate. What I'm envisioning is the RAS in the middle flanked by the surface plate and bench top DP. Removable pieces would then go over the base...

Woodshop + 2 Cars in 22x24 - Here we go!

So we're now a year later....... (well, 12 months and 2 days, but who is counting, right?). All 3 walls now have the corrugated wainscoating installed. All the fluorescent lights are installed (12 - 2 bulb T8 fixtures) along with several recessed can lights. Why the can lights? A couple...

Chris, Having worked in a Neuro ICU before, I can understand the torture you and your wife have gone through, but I'm thrilled to hear that she is getting better. ...and I totally agree - shop time counts as therapy for me too. Keep plugging away at shop projects, but family comes first, I...

    Between 705 & 1200 SQ/FT Roboto's Garage

Yeah, LED lights really mess with garage door openers and other wireless signals. I installed some LED lights in the remote mount light for my Liftmaster 8500, but the interference was so bad that when the lights were maybe 1 time in 10 could you shut them off using the opener button and the...

    Between 265 & 485 SQ/FT The Scooter Workshop

Jess, If I understand you correctly, the issue with the inserts is that they deform the shape of the channel, and that leads to poor fit, correct? Could you either make/find/buy some square collars that would fit around the strut? This would prevent the deformation of the open side of the...

    Post Recession Shop Rehabilitation Project

Chris, I vaguely remember thinning the regular Industrial Enamel about 25% (usually 4 to 1 ratio eyeballed). I don't remember the exact ratio for the HS, but it was probably somewhere closer to 40%. It all depends on your gun and what size nozzle you have too. If I remember correctly mine...
