Under deck shed build - planning phase

So, after reading lots of threads on GJ and ogling many others' garage/workshop spaces I've began work on phase 1 of my garage/workshop grand plan - building a shed to get some stuff out of the garage. There is just over 6 feet of head space below the deck joists of our deck. The deck is...

Need opinions on roofing for nearly-flat shed roof

In the next few months I am going to start building a shed to make some more space in the garage. I'm contemplating what to do for roofing but I'm a little stuck because the roof will be nearly flat (approx 1.5/12). The local Menards has EPDM rolls that come in various sizes (up to 15x25 in...

What have you done with your drill press, let see them

$189 near me. They recently had a coupon for $179 I think if you can find one.

What have you done with your drill press, let see them

One of the best ideas I saw was somebody using a 7 drawer end cabinet from HF (http://www.harborfreight.com/7-drawer-red-end-cabinet-for-roller-tool-chest-68785.html) under a bench top drill press. Seemed like a brilliant idea to me.

Mobil wood rack, looking for ideas...

You could modify something like this to suit your needs http://thefamelesswoodworker.com/2013/01/24/cutoff-binwood-storage/ Obviously this is designed for cutoffs, but you could make a slot in the back for sheet goods. If you're trying to store 6 or 8 foot boards this may not work however.

Ideas for Steevo-esque HF bench + Mobility

CTester, I spotted those just a little bit ago. Only downside is the minimum order is 300 units..... Think we can find another 150 people who want to do this same thing?

Ideas for Steevo-esque HF bench + Mobility

Maybe it is, but it's not a regular hydraulic bottle jack. Looks like you raise the jack by cranking (rotating) the attachment, not pumping it like a regular bottle jack

Ideas for Steevo-esque HF bench + Mobility

I agree, I think it would work. I almost wonder if it it wouldn't be "best" to just make a slot essentially in the square tubing say an inch long to give the rod enough slop up and down to not bind. Something to think about Is there a different name for the type of jack that Steevo shows...

Ideas for Steevo-esque HF bench + Mobility

I LOVE that idea, but I can't figure out how to do it so it wouldn't bind or have the extension rod be too short. The screw of the scissor jack will move up and down when as the jack moves. Granted, it will only move 1/2 the distance the jack is lifting (ie if the jack raises 1 inch, the screw...

Ideas for Steevo-esque HF bench + Mobility

Hi guys, So I'm mulling over ideas for a workbench and have run across some ideas I'm thinking about combining, but I'm interested in input from fellow GJ members. First I saw this on the GJ Homepage a while ago: <img src="http://norlift.files.wordpress.com/2013/05/2013-05-13-11-50-00.jpg"...

Legacy Industrial + Epoxy-Coat floor Installation

Progress - Grinding Complete (ish) So Thursday I took Shea's advice and rented a floor buffer with diamabrush from HD. Below are some pics, First one basically complete (but still covered with dust), and the 2nd and 3rd some strange areas. In an above post you can see a darker area in the...

Legacy Industrial + Epoxy-Coat floor Installation

Re: Remove stubborn stains in concrete? Here is what the garage as a whole looks like. The darker areas are where the cars park and are rough concrete, my guess is because of the road salt used in Michigan. I sprinkled water over the floor and didn't see any slots where it really beaded up...

Legacy Industrial + Epoxy-Coat floor Installation

Hi everyone, I'm embarking on an Epoxy-coat floor with a Legacy Industrial primer coat in the next couple of weeks. Last night I started doing the floor prep. I bought a gallon of the Behr concrete cleaner/degreaser and scrubbed the whole floor with a deck brush. Many areas came out looking...

Plans for Epoxy-coat floor - opinions sought

Thanks Christine and Scotty. I'm hoping I will just need the heater just to raise the temp ~10 degrees or so. It should be 40-45 in early November, but I would just feel better knowing it's in the 50s. Thanks!

Plans for Epoxy-coat floor - opinions sought

Thanks for the feed back thus far. I plan to rent a concrete grinder as my primary method of surface prep, followed by degreasing and acid etching. I am really hoping I can heat the garage enough to be able to do this before we move in, but at the same time I don't want it to be too cold and...

Plans for Epoxy-coat floor - opinions sought

Hi everyone. My wife and I recently bought a new house and are expected to take possession the end of this month or early November. The garage needs some care, and I figured what better time to do the floor then before we move all of our junk in! The concrete in our new house is in pretty...

Goldenrod Dehumidifier in 44" HF Chest

Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone has successfully installed a GoldenRod (or similar) dehumidifier in the 44" Harbor Freight tool chest. For those not familiar: http://www.goldenroddehumidifiers.com/ It is supposedly a 3/4" cylinder, but it doesn't specify how tall or wider the mounting...

    roubo workbench

I think this might be something like what you're looking for; http://ancorayachtservice.com/?page_id=196 Uses a chain and 2 sprockets to prevent racking. I have no affiliation, just think it is a good idea and a good implementation

Alternatives to epoxy and racedeck (and clones)

Hi guys, I have been reading here and researching what to do for my father's garage floor most of the summer so far. I thought I had finally decided upon doing epoxy, but after talking to SherwinWilliams and some local installers, I learned that basically nobody here has seen an epoxy floor...
