    10% ethanol gas + STA-BIL as good as ....?

I only use 89 octane non-ethanol in all of my outdoor power equipment and toys - go kart, mower, trimmer, leaf blower, generator, etc. No stabil or other treatments. I have (6) 5-gal containers that I fill up about once every 6 months.

Watch Out for ReelWorks Extension Cords

I've been using the Ironton version from Northern Tool since 2017 without a single issue. It's not used daily, sometimes not even weekly. Have never had it trip and I've had a variety of things plugged into it - air compressors, power washers, circular saws, etc. Of course not all at the same...

    Attic stairs

I hate, HATE small attic stairs and openings. So I went with the biggest I could find. 30X60 350-pound load capacity 5 1/2" deep steps https://louisvilleladder.com/ladders/attic-ladders/louisville-ladder-30x60-wood-attic-ladder-350-pound-load-capacity-s305p&id=s305p

    Repairing plastic basketball net base

I put a long, heavy chain in the bottom. Heavy enough to keep it upright, even at 6' high, but not heavy that you can't move it. And easy to remove when needed.

How to maintain a mower deck?

The grass build up contains moisture which leads to fungus which leads to rust, even in a temperature controlled garage. I've personally seen it and dealt with it which is why I scrape the deck as much as possible. Conditions and results will obviously vary.

How to maintain a mower deck?

I remove my deck at the beginning of every season and do a "deep clean." Remove the blades and spindles. Scrape all the big stuff off and then hit it with a pressure washer until clean. Leave it out in sun to try and then spray paint 3 coats. Reassemble and grease spindles. The paint does...

A question for the multimeter specialists....

I also got rid of them. Just another thing to keep track of when I was using them. Too small and annoying.

Electrician Used 10-30 Outlet for Compressor

So a "professional" blatantly does something intentional, NOT by mistake, and you want to offer him a chance to fix it? Yea, ok - NO. Do it right or get fired, simple. Too many people accept sub-standard work which is why **** like this happens. Because they know they could probably get away...

Electrician Used 10-30 Outlet for Compressor

I'm not an expert but you are right - I would have used a 6-30 to be code compliant. I also would have expected the inspector to say something. Functionally, you're OK if he wired two hots and a ground from panel to the 10-30r. But that doesn't mean it's correct.

    Harbor Freight Moving Dolly

I used one of my HF moving dollies to move (aka drag) a small pile of Trex decking about 6 feet. Lesson learned - be home when your contractor has a scheduled delivery. Anyways, one of the casters broke in the process. It was the sacrificial price ($12) that I had to pay so that I could get my...

    Heating 22x20 attached Garage

I'm in NE PA. I heat my 22x20 attached garage, insulated, 9' ceilings with a 7,500W 240V heater which is just over 25k BTU. Works great and is more than sufficient. I keep it on low and it maintains about 65 in the winter. I can't imagine 40k BTU. You could probably leave an overhead door open...

Wireless connectivity between house and two barns

I have a router in my house (Netgear R7000) and an extender in my garage (Netgear EX7000). The R7000 router has (4) Gigabit network ports and the EX7000 extender has (5) Gigabit network ports. All of them are enabled and available for use.The R7000 and EX7000 both provide WiFi (either same or...

    Recycling Cardboard - Staging Area

I have a large cardboard box inside the garage next to the door going into the house. You don't even need to leave the house to dispose of cardboard. Amazon boxes, cereal boxes, etc. Flatten, open door and toss. Then I burn. At least once a month, sometimes a lot more depending on volume.

Question for you plumbers out there

"Happens all the time" doesn't mean it's right or that there won't be any issues. I hate that saying. But it is what it is at this point. Only way to do it the way you want it done is to do it yourself.

I hate home depot, done shopping there.

Welcome to Earth where only the strong survive and the super strong and super smart live. In all seriousness, I expect nothing from retail workers. This is the truth. If I ask them something and they come through for me, I'm happy. If not, I'm simply unaffected.

new platform ladder and Wifey doesn't know

So many things I want to say but out of respect, I'm going to keep quiet. Will keep this garage related. Have you tried to show her the value of quality tools. Not only for the actions and repairs that can be completed with them but also their resale value too? Consider this... Your car won't...

    Shed construction

No sheathing?!?!? Can you - yes. Should you - no! f you don't use any sheathing, you're screwing yourself. Don't cheap out. Cheap never wins. You will require more maintenance, you loose structure strength and you loose some insulation without sheathing.
