Input before puchase of new Ratchet.. Flex-Head or Roto-Head

One word of caution with roto ratchets. I had a Napa (gearwrench copy) set of roto ratchets 3/8 and 1/4. The 1/4 was awesome especially as a ratcheting nutdriver. Same with3/8 except when using larger sockets 3/4,11/16 etc if you used the ratchet as a nut driver the part of the handle that holds...

Socket size for trailer hitch ball

Most are 1 1/2 but I recently bought one that was 1 7/16 so heads up with that my friend was convinced it was 1 1/2 till he actually tried 1 7/16

Cant decide on Ratchets williams or snap-on

If you use a ratchet as much as you say you do and can afford it get a snap on dual 80. Sure there may be other ratchets that are cheaper and just as good but if you are looking for quality and don't wanna be wondering what if just take the plunge I recommend an flf80 or fhlf80 if you want a...

    penetrating oil

Pb seems to be the best stuff. Im worried that now that is available almost anywhere they will go the way of other great products and be cheapened in order to save a buck but for now it seems to work the best. wd-40 seems worthless to me and no clue about the loctite seems gimmicky though

Using auto tools in the Fire Service

Like I said everywhere is different I think in 5 years I've used a sawzall once maybe twice million way to achieve the same end result

Using auto tools in the Fire Service

A sawzall can cut through sheet metal alot faster then a set of jaws but once you start trying to take a roof and run into reinforced A& B posts then hopefully you brought a lot of blades

Using auto tools in the Fire Service

When doing auto extrication you remove the trim on the interior of the vehicle to expose the airbags so you know the exact location if you cut through one of the airbags or the explosive charges that set it off things can take a drastic turn downhill very quickly so you just pry all the trim and...

Using auto tools in the Fire Service

I carry some of the channellock thick cable cutters for cutting battery cables and a small snap on pry bar to pry around for air bags I use to carry a 6 in 1 screwdriver but they tend to walk away I also used to carry A bunch of door wedges on my helmet but they kept catching on stuff and...

Snap on tools to get next

I love the 1/4 6pt general service socket set, the dual 80s are awesome. The flank drive plus(the one with teeth on the open end) with a ratcheting box are awesome as well. Im sure you can get cheaper better stuff but if your asking for snap on tools that's what I recommend.

    Truck toolbox setup/pics?

I have seen a lot of farmers with both a crossover or saddle box a packrat and also a transfer tank all from weatherguard. Now that doesn't mean they didn't have to fab up some spacers or shims to make it perfect but I've seen them all in truck bed multiple times

    Truck toolbox setup/pics?

If your looking for loads of space and don't have a fifth wheel hitch then check out this thing from weather guard its called a packrat if im not mistaken. it is the same concept of putting that cman. Middle drawer under your saddle box but they are actually built to be in a truck bed and can...

    Truck toolbox setup/pics?

Perhaps magnets are not for you but given that my local snapon dealer relies heavily on magnets to hold sockets and ratchets and regardless of the speed they may drive they are on the road all day and I don't see him picking up sockets when he pulls up I figured it would work for me and it does

    Truck toolbox setup/pics?

Well the ones I have seen are pretty serious magnets they seem a lot stronger than the magnets used in my socket holders. If I put the sockets holders on the side of the tool boxrather then the lid

    Truck toolbox setup/pics?

What would be nice is to get some magnets like the one on the snap on trucks those guys drive around all day and they seem to hang on all right

    Truck toolbox setup/pics?

The magnetic socket holders will hold up to driving around the only time they fall off is when I close the door real hard. But as far as driving goes it holds up surprisingly well. I usually put the holders on the side of the box while driving around and put them on the open door when using them

    Truck toolbox setup/pics?

I have a small pickup and a metal side box since space is at a premium I use wrench rolls to hold my my wrenches. I use either mechanic time savers( magnetic socket holders) that I have stacked on the side of the box. Except for my 1/4 sockets I got a great deal on a snap on general service set...
