    Routing PVC through concrete slab

I'd first call the shed builder and ask them how they place the shed on the slab. Then go from there with either the coupling flush internal approach or the external through wall. If appearance is important, the internal route may be the way to go.

Griot’s Garage Fans. Show it off!

Griot's taught me that trick of the plastic bag after claying. I also use their artificial clay product. Especially good as I often drop the regular clay and have to throw it away. If you don't use the GJ discount, they often have 15% off sales, so that's when I stock up on gallons and other...

Water and electricity in one trench.

In the county where I live, i am surprised we don't need a permit to spit on the ground. So in this rare instance, Miss Liberty is a good thing. "call before you dig" is the phrase we hear.

Water and electricity in one trench.

In the link included with reference to putting caution tape or rebar in the trench to identify is not needed where we live. Anytime we have to dig we can call MissLiberty a service provided by the utility companies that identify where any electric, water, sewer gas or other lines are located...

    8.8 vs 10.9

While we are on the subject, where is a good place to buy metric nuts/bolts in bulk. I am tired of running to the store because I want three or six or whatever bolts to all match when I am doing some job.

    Full view garage doors

It would be helpful for you in future posts to add your location to your name. DMV for me is DC, MD, VA. Is that you as well? If you are interested in full view, there was a company here that had all glass garage doors that resembled french doors.

    Survey Cost

Some great suggestions here. Thanks. I heard back from my architect today and he says I need a House Location Survey including the original boundary markers with the new added lot boundary markers. No soil survey, topographic survey, deed validation, covenants, etc. that was included in the...

    Survey Cost

I purchased a 33'x60' piece of land adjacent to my principal residence for a new garage. I need a survey done with the submission of the building permit. I received an estimate of $4900. This seems way out of whack with reality. What I need is the survey map for my architect to submit the...

Steel Buildings companies in MD area?

Since you are in Montgomery County which has the most bureaucratic and tedious process of all MD counties, your decision to use a firm that knows not only Md codes, but who to deal with is an important first step.

    My garage and lift ideas?

I am also planning on a stone front on my garage to match my house and prefer the two single door aesthetic. However, due to building lot restrictions it will be a tight turn into the garage and may need to go with a single door. One solution I am considering if I can find the vendor again, is...

    One door or two

While I prefer the look of two doors, one large door does give you more flexibility in moving cars in and out. If one day you really need space and want to work on the car in the middle of the garage, a large double door is more suitable. Lifts like Bendpak can easily be moved as well.

    HF Braun Slim LED Worklight

The HF light is the best. I have so many lights but this one is my continued go-to. I now have two. As well, I bought three more for each of my buddies who helped me on a major engine rebuild. Each time I go to their garages I see them always using the light. Works very well to see into tight...

    DetachedGarage:Garage Build Thread

I'm with you on this one. Still working with county for approval once I bought the land. First have to incorporate the land into my principal residence, so the area I bought can be considered "a buildable lot". Then the county has to determine what is the front or back of my house. I would have...

Keeping Heat out of Detached Garage

in this heat wave for the past month, we let the cars cool down in the driveway before bringing them in at night. Otherwise the garage overnight would heat up to 92-95 degrees. The dehumidifier doesn't help keep it cool either. So here's something I don't understand about garage doors. Why...

    I'm Done With Harbor Freight

I have had good luck with HF's Portland pole saw. Used it a lot to trim thick shrubs (120') cut many limbs up to 4 inches. I just make sure I keep oil in the canister and adjust the chain. It's taken a lot of abuse but with good maintence, it is one of my go-to yard tools.

What can’t go out must go up – 25x24 build thread DC/MD

thanks for getting back to me. I will check out Amish Built. Two minor setbacks. MNCPPC is moving slowly during this pandemic and the law firm I was using for the land use part of it imploded after 60 something years in business. They were the largest and best known firm in MC for real estate.
