    RACEDECK BLACK FRIDAY SALE

I used free flow in my existing garage and love it. In my new garage I was planning to epoxy first before putting down free-flow, but since the temp is now below 50 degrees I will have to wait until spring to do epoxy. So I have to pivot and install circletrac now. Is the discount still available?

Building new garage - Ceiling height for lift?

12'ft min and 13' is better. One of the Bendpak two post lifts is 12' 3" which may cause trouble for those with 12' height. A few other considerations. Make sure your slab contractor who is putting in an 8" slab digs deeper than adding concrete higher. Your 13' height in the end may be net 12'...

    Carrier Mini-Split experience

My HVAC contractor is recommending a Carrier dual zone 2.5 ton mini split for my garage space and room above. I'm only familiar with Mitsubishi and Daikin. As well, he is the only contractor who says we need a hyper unit that has the capability of operation below 30 degrees Fahrenheit. We live...

What should I do in my garage ceiling before I drywall it up?

If you are thinking of a four post lift, you may want a 240 outlet in the ceiling

    2nd US General 44 or build a bench around a 26" chest?

I am also thinking of a second HF44, but rather than put both next to each other, I plan on putting them back to back and making a 48" square table, so I can use three sides. One tool chest will be all metric and the other SAE. This will give me a more useful work area. Agreed that the HF 44...

    Questions about adding 220v circuits

When you say "most efficient way" to do it, I think you are really saying the cheapest way. Not always the same. I would suggest rather than replacing the main panel, just add a sub panel devoted to the two items you note. Not really that expensive.

    110 or 220??

If you know which brand of opener you will be using, go online to view the installation manual and see what they recommend.

Does ArmorPoxy offer a discount to Garage Journal members as does Racedeck?

    ArmorPoxy project finished

You did an excellent job on the install. I will most likely be using Armorpoxy on my new garage floor. Just waiting for the 30 day cure period. I noticed you used flecks as Armorpoxy has many choices. My only concern about the flecks is that it may be more difficult to identify small items that...

Garage door with Jack Shaft opener question

Liftmaster has solved the Phantom openings with a new controller. Mine was out of warranty, but Liftmaster replaced the controller free. Delivery was delayed due to COVID, but otherwise everything is OK. Their customer service is excellent.

Liftmaster 8500 (or Genie 6172) spacing?

Ignore the extension cord issue. Properly sized extension cord should not be an issue. The motor is only operating for 10-12 seconds and not running continuously. Some lawyer probably made them add that restriction.

Celect Cellular Composite Siding- Anybody used it

My contractor suggested I try Celect Cellular Composite side as an alternative to Hardie Plank siding. I ordered a few samples Monday and received them yesterday. Very impressed. Attractive, lightweight, good rigidity. Interlocks for good sealing and has Kynar coating so it resists mold...

    Metal or Asphalt roof

I thought about doing the shingles myself. If it were a 6/12 not an issue but this a 12/12 roof, so a little too steep. My wife chimed in on this one and said "no way".

copper or pex under the slab

Thanks for the tip on supply.house.com. I received my order today for all the 2" and 1 1/2 angles. Far ess than half the price of Home Depot.

    Metal or Asphalt roof

Not considering corrugated. The seamed 17' metal roofing (nominal 16".) I have used that on my garage overhang. It also comes in 25" length (nominal 24") which may be more appropriate for a larger roof area.

    Tall ceiling garage plans

I am also planning 13' high sidewall (9' concrete & 4' 2x6). To keep proportions in perspective, I would suggest you use larger 8x9 doors and an overhang over the garage doors. This way it breaks up the height from a typical 8' or 9' ceiling height that you see in most 24x24 plans. In your case...

    Metal or Asphalt roof

My plans were to have an asphalt roof for my 25x25. I am now reconsidering given the exhorbitant prices for OSB/plywood that a metal roof may be less expensive. I would just put purlins over my trusses and apply the metal roof without OSB/Plywood. Haven't priced it out yet, so has anyone else...

    grounding rod query

The #4 copper wire secured to the footing rebar seems to be a cleaner method. I will have 9' concrete sidewalls so I will connect the wire to the exposed rebar with the direct burial clamp from the footings before they install the forms for the concrete walls. Better hustle since the forms are...
