    Craftsman Toolbox Latch?

I see used "vintage" Craftsman metal tool boxes at garage sales and on craigslist , all the time, and usually cheap and in good shape. Thats where I would try. Here's one, for example, its an 18"er for $10, probably could get it for $5. http://bend.craigslist.org/tls/5166344260.htmlIts even a...

Are these CL drill press vises worthwhile?

you probably don't need more than 1 dp vise, if that. I have one, and they are very handy, and I don't even have a drill press! I got it in the free pile at a garage sale. Wouldn't pay more than $5 for a used one, otherwise.

    Craftsman Toolbox Latch?

are you talking about these things? If so, its probably easier and cheaper to replace the entire tool box, unfortunately.

The BROKEN vises of the Garage Journal...

got an old Morgan 30 at scrap value, because the tongue, or slide support was broken off. Since it is only a 3" vise, it should still work fine- not meant for holding driveshafts! So far, it works great.

    Best vise tip ever

its a good idea, except in my case, at 5ft 6" I had to lower the vise mounting when I got my latest vise. Wish I had your problem!

    391-5187 vise = Japan?

the woodworking vise alone, even if made in Japan (391 prefix is Japan, 506 is USA), especially if it has a quick release, is worth a quick $50 by itself. The American version of that same vise is made by Columbian, and goes for twice that.

    Bench Table saw cabinet

I don't use my ts as much anymore, so it spends its time parked against the wall. When I need it, I roll it out on the driveway- so I can share the saw dust with the neighbors. I mounted a miter box underneath, and it actually works very well, for what I am currently doing.

    vise value, please

how much is this Morgan Milwaukee 4" vise, worth, to sell. It can be mounted as a fixed base, or on its 360 degree rotating base. Weighs 58lbs. It was probably made in the 70s or early 80s, and has had very little use, but the original owner did do a quick paint job on it. There are just too...

    Knaack Classic or Jobmaster

not familiar with the Classic, but the Jobmaster 4824 retails for around $600, but they show up on craigslist rather often, in the $100-200 range, depending on condition, and whether it has casters. It is also easy to sell, as it fits accross the back of pickup trucks. Since you are leaving...

Columbian 3 1/2 Bench Vise Question

there are 2 things you can try. Place a washer under the head of the bolt- this will take up any slop in this direction. Then, make a sleeve to go around the bolt to take up the extra space in the casting. I have used a strip of thin galv wrapped around the bolt, then squeezed into the hole. It...

Dare I buy a clamp on Vise

why not just use a standard 3-1/2" vise, which you may have on hand, and mount it to a block of wood, or something like a disc brake rotor?

Harbor freight 56in tool chest good buy?

if you bought it and didn't like it for some reason, I'd bet you could get your $450 back rather easily- thats less than $100 more than the 42" HF roller.

Porter Cable 1/4" corded impact driver

Had a Ryobi 18V one plus impact driver that worked very well for everything except 3" deck screw type jobs, which I don't do. Betteries pooped out, so I sold it and bought the PC. Should have just bought a couple new batteries! I agree with what was posted above. I sold the PC, and am looking...

Repurposed hospital table for underhood mechanic's tray ideas

Here's mine. Replaced original top with a wood top with indoor/outdoor carpet, and foam bumpers around the edges. Also changed all 4 wheels to swivel. Works great, and best of all- takes up no space when not needed.
