    50’x120’ steel span structure.

I talked to a client of mine that GC is own build and he seems to think I’m not going to be able to stay in my budget of 40 sq ft or 300000 max. He also has a ton of finishes that I won’t have. A portion of his structure his his home. He gave me the name of all the contractors he used etc. I’ve...

    50’x120’ steel span structure.

Agreed. My only concern would be enough interior height for mezzanine or future build out. I’m going to talk to builder about this. So far of the three I’ve talked to one did suggest this type of design.

    Enclosed trailer upgrades and modifications

I like that setup. I have a Moto van. So I’m the opposite I have the bikes in the van and use the van to pull the trailer. My trailer is a 22 ft and the transit pulls it real nice.

    50’x120’ steel span structure.

Good stuff thanks I appreciate your input. Hello, Good news in general I met with the other GC I was hoping to meet with and he said they could most likely get towards that 40 per sqft number that I’d like to see. This would include all the engineering, site prep, foundation and structure with...

    50’x120’ steel span structure.

Hello, Thanks for this great advice. I appreciate it and everyone else that has commented. I had a chance to look at my old shop building yesterday while doing some work there and I was thinking 14’ doors where really tall and not needed once I saw them compared to a 12’ door. Great advice about...

Thanks for the feedback and it’s very timely. I just got off the phone with one GC and he mentioned that my County may have more stringent requirement in regards to insulation. He mentioned R25 in walls and r 38 ceiling. I’ll keep updating this thread as I get info and learn more. I tried to get...

    50’x120’ steel span structure.

Hello, I’m looking at putting up a 50’x120’ ,16/18 foot tall with 2:12 roof, steel span structure for my fleet service business. My business is mobile so the shop would be to store my mobile oil change vehicles, equipment, fork lift, totes of waste oil and barrels of oil. At any one time I have...

    Considering a waste oil heater

Most people that produce oil are considered waste oil generators by the epa. As a small company I don’t give my oil away, since I generated it if I give someone the oil and they spill it it’s still my problem. Something to think about. I only recycle my oil though a used oil recycler and he...

    Considering a waste oil heater

You can fork lift a full tote no problem. That’s the only way to move them. They have fork lift spaces in bottom of tote

    Considering a waste oil heater

Hello, I was considering building a 50x120 shop and wanted to do radiant heat with a waste oil boiler. The building would be a steel clear span structure with 6” insulation in roof and 4” in wall. It’s shop space and temps would be kept at 50-65 depending. I have an unlimited supply of clean...

    Some of Bodj Built's builds

Loving the dirt bike posts. I’ve got a 250 two stroke and a 500 both husky’s. Riding is not happening where I live but I’m in the middle of a bunch of maintenance and upgrades on my 500 to get it ready for summer. Good to know about the head gasket orientation. I’m only at 67 hours on the 500 so...

    Steel Building Erection

I had a buddy get sued when he hired some “people” to help him put up some trusses. There was a failure and someone got hurt by falling off a truss. Seems like a lot of legal liability to save a few bucks. Stepping over a dollar to save a dime etc. I’d hire it out to someone with the...

    Fork lift for the shop

I would look for an older name brand like Clark or Toyota. I picked this up for $1200 and some trade. I did real good. It’s a gas powered Toyota. I can’t imagine life without it.

Miller Multimatic 215 vs Lincoln Power Mig 210MP

I’ve got the millermatic 215. It’s small but packs a lot of punch. Plus it does stick and lift tig, aluminum mig and mig. What’s not to like aside from price? I use it mostly on sheet metal and it’s pretty good at the thin stuff.
