Does anyone know of a supplier that offers a roof similar to this that can go between 2 shipping containers but with metal sheeting for the roof? Thinking of putting 3 40ft shipping containers with this between 2 of then and on the end to the roof of the cross ways one to make a cheaper shop space. I know process to get permits for the containers is a lot easier than the shop with earthquakes and slab and such.fb47f31f47d2cdf524a4259cbd9733e0.jpg5a9d0b4695cee455062f14aec4324674.jpg

Yeah I've talked to a couple metal building mfg and they all said they could do it basically as metal legs and a roof just need the outside dimensions but they would do it with the legs to the ground. Not to bolt to shipping container to hold the sides and or just roof up.

I'm up here in reasonably mild western Oregon; I have a 20', 2 40' and 2 40' Hi Cubes - only the 20' has a roof over it so far; between that and a couple trees, that one sees NO SUN - result is no condensation, and temps INSIDE are exactly the same as OUTSIDE...

HUGE difference from the 40's, NONE of which (yet) have any shade - on just a partially sunny day, I've measured temps inside up to 140 degrees; on full sun days, it gets that warm even with a 20" exhaust fan at each container's door (no other vents yet, working on burglar/pest proof greenhouse kits (exhaust shutter fan, inlet louvers on shaded other end)

As it is now, the door ends of the un-shaded ones is barely tolerable within 15 feet of the doors with fans on - the closed end gets somewhere between 130 and 150 on clear days.

My point - in your area, without SHADE your containers would probably be capable of cooking pizza's inside. Knowing what I know now, there is absolutely NO WAY I would put up a roof that didn't COMPLETELY SHADE all parts of the containers. Only reason mine aren't ALREADY roofed is time/money/energy (I'm 75, NOT rich)

When any/all of my "impediments" change, I have a 48x60 pole structure/6" slab planned, both Hi-Cubes will be paralleled along one long side (still under the roof) leaving me a 30x60 slab area for working on equipment; the 2 containers will get welded together, with one side being a weld shop and the other for machining/tool storage - the weld side will have a full-length gantry, steel rack along one side and an 8' long "pass-thru" by the end doors. Rough sketch below... Steve

EDIT - the sketch shows the crane at 30' long, it'll probably end up closer to 35...

yeah from what i've found for the cost of the 40ft containers Unless the roof was very cheap it would be cheaper and easier to do a versatube type structure to avoid the big footing required for the steel red iron buildings like I built in Arizona. Now the price of versatube isn't that cheap either so i'll have to weigh all my options when the time comes to proceed with the next shop.

Looks like a farm hoop storage roof.

Here is a shipping container/garage near me. He used 20' containers, a full width roof would keep the containers cooler inside if you are going to use it as a shop.

Ok found a few more options and I saw one guy who got siding sheet metal for a shop spray foamed the container and attached it to the side of container to insulate it

Why not use prefab trusses? That's what I did when I put a roof over these twenty footers in my avatar

Yeah I contact a few building suppliers and they could make it with small legs that would attach to the container roofs

I welded tabs on both sides of each container and bolted 4X4's on with teco fasteners to locate the trusses.
